I almost forgot to post today!
The page above, yeah, that's what my foreseeable future is going to look like, but I'm not complaining. I will make this work and I'm starting by beginning my second drafts for my 2021 releases. Normally, I do those only in the summer but might as well start now since I need to help my kids. Tomorrow we have Zoom meetings with all the teachers and Wednesday school starts again. My oldest is the only one I'm waiting to hear from teachers on. Over the weekend, the husband and boys got my garden built and we got seeds started. I also finished the rough draft of Sing for me, Cowgirl. We've been doing our best to stay active and healthy, as well as stay away from others here. I hope you are well. x Brooke

Happy Friday everyone!
My kids have made it to day 14 of not seeing anyone outside of my husband, mom, dad, brother, and myself. We are working on getting schooling ready for next week but it hasn't stopped me from getting some reading in. This week, I technically have 5 books even though 3 of them are in a bundle. So, let's get started. First off I have the Grizzly Cove books by Bianca D'Arc. They were insta-love stories of bear shifters. Sweet, but lacked much action or conflict which I enjoy. They are great for quick reads. Blurbs: The first three Grizzly Cove stories in one place! Welcome to Grizzly Cove, where bear shifters can be who they are - if the creatures of the deep will just leave them be. Wild magic, unexpected allies, a conflagration of sorcery and shifter magic the likes of which has not been seen in centuries... That's what awaits the peaceful town of Grizzly Cove. That, and love. Lots and lots of love. This anthology contains: All About the Bear Welcome to Grizzly Cove, where the sheriff has more than the peace to protect. The proprietor of the new bakery in town is clueless about the dual nature of her nearest neighbors, but not for long. It’ll be up to Sheriff Brody to clue her in and convince her to stay calm—and in his bed—for the next fifty years or so. Mating Dance Tom, Grizzly Cove’s only lawyer, is also a badass grizzly bear, but he’s met his match in Ashley, the woman he just can’t get out of his mind. She’s got a dark secret, that only he knows. When ugliness from her past tracks her to her new home, can Tom protect the woman he is fast coming to believe is his mate? Night Shift Sheriff’s Deputy Zak is one of the few black bear shifters in a colony of grizzlies. When his job takes him into closer proximity to the lovely Tina, though, he finds he can’t resist her. Could it be he’s finally found his mate? And when adversity strikes, will she turn to him, or run into the night? Zak will do all he can to make sure she chooses him. Goodreads Amazon Next is the brand new release by T.M. Frazier, Pike! A great addition to the spin offs of the King Series. Dark, twisted, and not without a few good chuckles, Pike brings you back to Logan's Beach with a new story with all your favorite characters from the past. Blurb: **A King Series Spin-Off** Born into chaos. Baptized in the gutter. I was raised by the violent laws of the streets, spilling blood without the hindrance of useless emotions or connections. Unfeeling. Unloved. Alone. My life was perfect. Until her. While on a manhunt for a mysterious enemy, one hellbent on taking both my business and my life, I find Mickey. She's covered in mud, rambling nonsense, and clearly out of her mind. She's also a distraction I don't need. That is until I discover a connection between the girl and my enemy. Mickey isn't a distraction anymore. She's the perfect weapon. One I'll use to exact my revenge. The plan is an easy one, but there's something about Mickey that's making it more and more difficult. A familiarity I can't place. A need I can't explain. A want I have to deny. After all, she's not mine to keep. She's a tool. My pawn. My sacrifice. Goodreads Amazon The last book I have is Burning Bridges by Mayra Statham. This is a fun read about falling for your older brother's friend. The only thing I found annoying is how it went from first person with the female character to third with the male. Other than that, it was a fun read. Blurb: Fireman Maverick Bridges doesn’t do complicated. All he needs are his firehouse brothers and an ice-cold beer after a long day. His life is turned upside down the moment he unknowingly sets his sights on the one woman he shouldn’t want. Sofia Blanco is back in her hometown after a decade abroad. Her first night, she meets a man whose dark blue eyes promise the ability to deliver on a dirty and sinful night. A night that’s ruined when they find out she’s his best friend’s little sister and temporary housemate. An instant attraction that is hard to resist quickly turns into steamy showers and Nutella-licking fun. But what happens when casual fun turns into more? Will they be able to walk through fire for one another? Goodreads Amazon I'm going to be honest, I've never cared for spring break. I guess it's because growing up we never did anything. It was too cold to go to our family cabin and we've never been able to afford to go on trips. I always thought it would be better to get out of school sooner to enjoy more of summer where we could have fun.
Having my kids home for week two has gone far easier than the beginning of last. It helps the weather is supposed to be nice and we can go outside. Yesterday, we went up the mountain and did some sledding for a few hours. It was a blast even if it was snowing on us. You want to talk about social distancing, you can't get better than going into the wilds of the mountains. I'm back to working on Sing for me, Cowgirl this week and hoping to have it done while also getting electronics ready for going back to school next week. If you hadn't seen, every single one of my books are on sale right now. Make sure you pick up whatever title you want. As always, I will see you Friday and I hope and pray that y'all are staying healthy, happy, and sane. x Brooke How's it going this week? Going stir crazy yet? I know I am a little bit and I can still go to work. Janitors are also the backbone of the world and we still need to make sure everyone has a clean place to go.
Okay, enough of my soap box. If you need some reads to get your through the weekend or the weeks to come, make sure you check out these three books! Kicking off my week was War by Laura Thalassa. I enjoyed this one more the Pestilence. Blurb: They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all. The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp. Now Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist. However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall, or sacrifice everything and stop him. Goodreads Amazon Next up is the Liars, Inc. books by Rachel Van Dyken. I always enjoy her books especially when they are branded with her humor. Laughter is a great medicine right now. Blurb for Dirty Exes: Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex–NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a year later? Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself. Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie—for a price. Now caught between two men—one totally right and the other totally wrong—Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk…and whom she’s willing to risk it for. Goodreads Amazon Blurb for Dangerous Exes: Isla made one teeny little mistake. Now she and her PI company, Dirty Exes, are being targeted by one seriously angry and furiously sexy ex-quarterback. Jessie freakin’ Beckett. But there’s no way some NFL superhunk is going to take her business away. If only he didn’t make her so hot—and bothered. Jessie wants payback for a ruined reputation. His plan? Top secret. His hard-to-hide arousal for Isla? Not so much. Especially when they let down their guards and sneak a kiss. Like any juicy scandal, it goes so viral, so fast, that only a good lie can combat the bad press. Mortal enemies in a fling? No way. Um…this is love! Actually…could it be? Isla’s not faking it. Jessie can’t. As the game of let’s pretend gets real, Jessie forgets all about revenge. That’s the problem. His plan is already out of his control. Now it could undo everything they’ve been trying to build. Coming clean may be the only thing that can save it. Goodreads Amazon That's all I have for you this week. I hope you'll find some great reads. Remember, the first books in all of my series are on sale right now. Happy Reading and stay safe. x Brooke It's already been a hair pulling out, teeth grinding day and it's only the morning! With school shutdown, I got my kids focused on school since they still have one week before they are officially on spring break. The youngest was easy. We read since I had his reading level books thanks to our local library and we did worksheets I found on Pinterest.
The big one was the difficult one. He woke up and got right to work with most of his classes and thought he was done. On a side note, I never thought I would be so happy to have his classes online. Well, he was off doing what he wanted because work comes first and then play and he thought it was time to play. His email said something different. He had math and literature to work on. It was the literature that was the teeth pulling. But here I am, done helping both kids for the day and ready to focus on "Sing for me, Cowgirl." I hope y'all are healthy and safe. I have all the first books in each of my series on sale right now. Make sure you check them out. Let me help you keep your sanity. A box set and a horseman is what I have in store for you this week! Bare with me, my head is starting to get cloudy. While others are worried about the coronavirus, I think I'm getting a stomach bug. Makes no sense because I've been disinfecting things all week both at home and at work, you'd think I'd have enough in my system. LOL Oh, well. I'll survive. Now, onto the books! First off I have the Men of Inked Vol. 1 by Chelle Bliss. Hot reads! It shows three books, but you actually get a novella in there as well as a teaser for the fourth book. I truly enjoyed each story but Resist Me was probably my favorite out of the batch. Blurbs: Join the Gallo siblings as their lives are forever turned upside down by irresistible passion and unexpected love. This box set contains three full-length novels — Throttle Me, Hook Me, and Resist Me -- plus a bonus novella -- Throttled Book 1: Throttle Me Suzy's a control freak and has her life mapped out — work hard, find a man with a stable job, and live happily ever after. She's content with the status quo, but her plan comes to a screeching halt when he enters her life and turns it upside down. City gave up on love when his heart was crushed in college, preferring to be the typical bachelor. He spends his nights hopping from one bed to another and his days working at his family tattoo shop, Inked. A chance encounter on a dark road makes him question what he had sworn off forever — a relationship. A night of passion and lust causes them to question everything. Is City the knight in shining armor to the damsel in distress? Can their relationship survive when a fantasy falls apart and a secret comes out that changes everything? Book 2: Hook Me Michael Gallo found his calling in life — he wants to kick ass. He works at Inked as a piercer, but spends his mornings training and dreaming of winning an UFC championship. Michael is the road to achieving his goal when a chance encounter alters his world forever. The title is no longer enough — he must capture the woman of his dreams. Dr. Mia Greco is dedicated to saving lives and helping those less fortunate. She doesn't have time to meet Mr. Right with her busy schedule. She buries herself in her work and helping humanity. Fate steps in and sweeps the carpet out from under her. She tries to deny the pull to him, a man that uses his fists for gain, but the universe won't let her walk away so easy and Michael isn't one to take no for an answer. He has a secret that may rip them apart. There are forces bigger than them at work; drawing them in and making their worlds collide — not letting either one of them walk away. Book 2.25: Throttled She’s about to become his – Mrs. Joseph Gallo. All she wants is to be his, but his possessiveness days before the wedding has her questioning the reality of a happily ever after. He’s not easy. He’s territorial and doesn’t share well with others. City’s staking his claim, making Suzy his forever. Their future teeters precariously on the cliff of matrimonial bliss. Will their love survive his alpha nature or will it all unravel before she can say ‘I do’? Book 3: Resist Me Izzy Gallo has never been described as a member of the weaker sex. She's a woman who doesn't take sh*t from anyone. Growing up with four olderoverprotective brothers has hardened her, making her a force to be reckoned with. Against the wishes of her two brothers, Joe and Mike, Izzy takes a weekend trip to Bike Week in Daytona, turning her world upside down. Over her head, in a world she doesn't understand, there's only one man who can save her. James Caldo has dedicated his life to protect and serve as a member of the DEA. He's cocky, overbearing, and doesn't take no for an answer — the Gallo men have nothing on him. When their paths cross, James makes Izzy question everything she believes about completely surrendering to the opposite sex. Does James have what it takes to overpower the headstrong Izzy, capturing her heart forever? Next I have Pestilence by Laura Thalassa. This was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad she did. It is an incredibly interesting read and kind of eye opening, especially with what is going on in the world at the moment. I'm looking forward to diving into War next. Blurb: They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all. When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed. Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him. And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process. That's all I have for you this week. I hope you have a healing weekend if something is ailing you. I know I'm going to take it easy with a quick trip to the library and then bake a cake. What better way to rest for the weekend than to cuddle up and read? That's my only other plans.
See you Monday. x Brooke How are we all surviving the time change? Or did you not have to deal with it? If so, I'm jealous. I changed our clocks at 6 pm Saturday night in the hopes of tricking everyone. The only one to crash easily was the warden who normally falls asleep while we watch a movie. I thought I was doing good until I ended up taking an hour and a half nap.
Oh well. Today, is much better. We have plenty of TP and though it's cold out, I got a walk in this morning that helped wake me up. It's time to dive into my newest rough draft, Sing for me, Cowgirl. It will be the sixth My Cowboy book that will be about Tucker and Maddi's oldest daughter, Ashlyn. Sorry if that's a spoiler for you. By now, if you've read my books, you'll know I always make sure there is a HEA …. for now. *Wink, wink* I'm having fun with this one so far because it centers around music, especially country. I'm still figuring out the second half of the story but I've become more of a pantser with my past two manuscripts. We'll see. Hope the coffee is strong, or tea, and you have a great week. x Brooke TGIF! I don't know about you, but this week was stressful for some strange reason. I'm ready for the weekend to get here with warmer temps and hopefully get my kids over their colds.
I have three books for you this week. Two by Meghan March and one by Lorelei James. When I picked up Ruthless King by Meghan March for free, I honestly didn't know it was a trilogy first, but I fell in love with the story and quickly picked up the other two, Defiant Queen and Sinful Empire. Defiant Queen: I’m his entertainment. His toy. Payment on a debt. I tell myself I hate him, but every time he walks into the room, my body betrays me. How can I want him and fear him in the same moment? They told me he’d mess with my head. Make it go to war with my body. But I didn’t realize it would be complete anarchy. I should’ve known better. When Mount’s involved, there are no rules. I will not surrender. I will not show weakness. I’ll stand my ground and make it out of this bargain with my heart and soul intact. But he has other plans . . . Defiant Queen is the second book of the Mount Trilogy. Mount and Keira's story concludes in Sinful Empire. Goodreads Amazon Barnes & Noble Sinful Empire: The Mount Trilogy concludes with Sinful Empire! What’s mine, I keep, and that includes Keira Kilgore. It’s no longer enough to have her in my debt. No longer enough to own her body. I want something more. She can try to resist, but I’ll never give her up. Nothing will keep us apart. Not her. Not my enemies. No one. Her debt will only be paid one way—with her heart. Sinful Empire is the third and final book in the Mount Trilogy. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble My final book for you is Spun Out by Lorelei James. It's set in Wyoming and even though the language is slightly close to how Wyomingites talk, I struggled to get into the story. Blurb: New York Times bestselling author Lorelei James returns for another wild ride in Wyoming with a new Blacktop Cowboys(R) novel. Years in the Army equipped Bailey Masterson for many things: target shooting, rappelling off cliffs, dodging grenades. She's lived through horrors that still give her nightmares. But nothing in Bailey's life-or-death training prepared her for caring for the tiny terror that is five-year-old Olivia Hale. Or how to control her raging attraction to Olivia's father, Streeter, the rugged, green-eyed cattle rancher who undermines her every move even when he stars in her dreams. Streeter Hale has room for only two things in his life: his daughter and his job. He doesn't date. He doesn't get attached. Not anymore. So not only is Streeter stunned by Olivia's improved behavior after just a few days with Bailey, he's downright floored by his immediate attraction to the woman. But with secrets in her eyes and a body that doesn't quit, Streeter begins to worry that Bailey Masterson might just be the one woman to heal his fractured family and broken heart. One thing's for sure--these two wrecked souls are spinning out of control as they desperately try not to fall in love.. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble That's all I have for you this week. I hope you have a great weekend! See you Monday. x Brooke Spring fever got a hold of me this weekend and even though I spent Saturday baking sample cakes and taking the kiddos to the new indoor pool, Sunday was all about purging my house … mainly the boys' room … from old toys.
Whenever my youngest got close to trying to reclaim a toy he had forgotten about, I blasted him in the face with our Minion Fart Gun. Don't look at me like that, it worked. Five trash bags later and I can see their room once more. And I still have their closet to do. Two bags went to the garbage while I'm donating the rest because I can't bring myself to throw away still good toys. And yes, I'm keeping the fart gun. In other news, book news, I've wrapped up the second draft of Faida, the second Heartstrings book coming in December and even have the blurb written for it. Thankfully, it was easier than I thought it would be. No head bashing was needed. Now that it's done and I have prizes ready to ship out, I'm debating on what to write next. I'm planning the sixth My Cowboy book, but I don't know who to write because both are speaking to me. But who to start with? If you're in my readers group, feel free to vote who I should go with. That's all for this Monday. I hope the weather is getting nice for you. It's starting to here. See you Friday. x Brooke |
