Mancrush Monday

I'm not crying, you're crying.
No, really, I'm okay. I went into this past weekend bracing myself for the emotional roller coaster that Avengers: Endgame and The Long Night (Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3) would bring.
It's safe to say that I survived with little to no tears. Both made me cry only once and that's where I will leave it. I won't be a spoiler like my youngest attempted to be at school this morning.
Don't ever talk to him before you see a movie that he already has. Well, what his brother told him anyways.
So, I needed a good looking cowboy to take in for this mancrush Monday and this is who I found. He reminds me of Cade Masters almost perfectly.
I'm finding getting back into writing after the weekend I had but I'm getting there. The beautiful day outside isn't helping much either.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a kick ass week.
Until Friday.

It was a Carolina Connection kind of week. I picked up Sylive Stewart's books, The Spark on a BookBub deal and I had to go back and read the first and then the third, fourth, and fifth book. They are all rom-coms but some are funnier than others. I found some of the female characters truly relatable. I'm not the girly type so I fell in love in The Lucky One with Bailey.
The Lucky One:
Luck is no lady… in fact, she can be a downright bitch.

Bailey:
Let’s get one thing straight. I am not your typical girl. Sure, I’ve got all the parts, but I’ve been a stubborn, irreverent tomboy since the womb. Which makes it particularly ironic that my heart is so damn girlie. It falls in love at the drop of a hat and leaves me to deal with the aftermath. But no more! If Jake Beckett thinks spending one night together gives him some claim on me, he’s got another thing coming—even if the mere thought of that night leaves me panting like a damn Labrador. I’m not about to open the door and let Jake in, but that choice may be taken from both our hands.

Jake:
Coming home was supposed to be my shot at redemption. Instead, I’m finding myself chasing after an irresistible blonde whose mercurial behavior could give Jekyll and Hyde a run for their money. I’ve got too much on my plate to get tied up in knots over a girl who wants nothing to do with me. But Bailey Murphy may hold the key to my redemption, and I’m not giving up on either without a fight. “Irish” might play with a poker face, but I’m about to call her bluff … and I hope like hell I’ve got luck on my side.

If you enjoy the lightheartedness of Kristen Proby and the witty sex appeal of Kendall Ryan, you'll love The Lucky One.

Amazon

The Game:
They say opposites attract. Someone needs to tell that to Emerson Scott.

Gavin:

All I ever wanted was to play ball. When an act of sheer stupidity took that dream away, I thought I’d never bounce back. But now I have the opportunity to coach an up-and-coming phenom, and I'm giving it all I've got. The fact that I've been lusting after his smoking-hot sister only sweetens the deal. Emerson may be buttoned up like a school librarian, but I play my best when I’m under pressure … and I always bring the heat.

Emerson:
Never lose focus. Never lose control. Those are the first two rules in my carefully calculated plan for success. Finding myself thrown into the role of guardian for my little brother was not part of that plan. But I can adjust for Jay’s sake; I’m not about to let one change make me lose sight of my goals. Too bad Jay’s hot young baseball coach doesn’t seem to give a fig about my plans. He has one of his own—and it includes me. Gavin Monroe may play like a pro, but that boy will never win this game.

Goodreads
Amazon

The Way You Are:
LIV: There are really only three things I need in life: sex, baseball, and winning. My hot boyfriend and season tickets take care of the first two, while I always do my best to cover the last. So developing an unexpected crush on a new friend is more than a little inconvenient. I don’t have anything but friendship to offer Brett, but with the way he looks at me, he has me wishing I did.

BRETT: I’ve been put in the friend zone so often, they’ve got a sandwich named after me. You’d think I’d be used to it by now. But when it comes to the delectable Liv, I’m determined to ditch the friend zone and show her I’m boyfriend material. Too bad the position’s already been filled by a ball-playing caveman who could flatten me with his pinky.

What will it take to show Liv that nice guys can be more than just friends, and that love is the one game truly worth winning?

Monday Blues?

4/22/2019

Picture
I know, a little odd to have the Monday blues after a somewhat nice weekend but I blame Game of Thrones. Like last week, I feel a void after finishing last night's episode. I'm looking forward to see what comes next.
Saturday, I took my kiddos to an egg hunt. Only Little E participated and he got a golden egg. Not bad for only getting six eggs, right? He was able to pick out whatever stuffed animal he wanted and he picked a skunk. His name is Skunko.
I survived dying a ton of eggs with little kids while wearing a white shirt Saturday afternoon. Yes, I don't know what I was thinking.
Sunday, the Easter bunny paid a visit to my parents' garage and house since it was raining. The Easter Bunny aka Grandma gave way too much candy to my children. I have it up and out of the way otherwise my youngest tries to go crazy on it.
Which leads to today. So, I have you a cowboy reading with his dog. I mean, hello men who read.
I hope y'all had a great weekend and will continue to have a great week.

Happy Friday everyone! If you celebrate Easter, are you ready for this weekend? I've begun making my dishes today so I don't get overwhelmed over the weekend.
Now, onto the books.
My first read is Dropping In by Carrie Quest. I haven't read many snowboarding books, but this was enjoyable.
Blurb:
Natalie Berensen has one short summer to ace her writing class and convince her parents she’s not a hopeless screw-up. No more changing her major once a month, taking time off to travel, or random friends-with-benefits. She doesn’t have time for distractions or hook-ups, not even if her longtime crush is in town for the summer and living in her basement. Who cares if he’s a snowboarding god with six pack abs and a hashtag devoted to his apparently magical penis? She’s not interested.
Until she is.
Ben Easton’s focus and self-discipline is legendary. He’s built a career as a professional snowboarder by training harder than anyone else on the mountain and steering clear of anything that doesn’t take him one step closer to his goal: Olympic gold. Then his best friend crashes in the half-pipe and Ben drops everything to take care of him. No more training. No more competitions. No more snowboarding. It’s over.
He’s back in Boulder to help with Adam’s rehab, not fool around with his little sister’s best friend, no matter how much he loves her laugh or the way her ass looks when she walks up the stairs. There’s no way in hell he’s going anywhere near Natalie.
Until he does.
Contains: a grumpy guard cat with a taste for blood, discussions of Ents as phallic symbols, and plenty of sexy times.

My next book was Quicksilver by Claudy Conn. There was a mythical feel to this book that had me feel mystified.
Blurb:
Ravena MacAllister doesn’t want to admit what she is. She wants to continue pretending she’s just human … only human, like her mother, like her friends.
But she isn’t human.
Heartbreak and betrayal send her off rushing to Scotland, to a familiar haven where she has spent so many summers with her father, but she soon discovers that everything has changed.
From the moment she meets Quinn MacValdane, shock waves travel through him to her and back again, wrapping them in a tide of passion she had never dreamt possible. But if they are to have a future together, she must confront who and what she is, for she will need to call on the powers within her as she becomes embroiled in an adventure that will alter her life forever.
The time for pretending is over.

My last book this week is The Spark by Sylvie Stewart. I enjoyed this laugh-out-loud book. I go through different cravings of books but I love a good rom-com.
Blurb:
Mark Beckett is the most annoying, patronizing, arrogant jerk on the face of the earth. So, naturally, I can’t get the damn man out of my head.
Fiona:
Like the old saying goes, I’m a jill of all trades but a master of none. What I lack in skill, however, I make up for in enthusiasm—something certain people (ahem) find irritating. But I have my reasons for living my life the way I do, for diving into one project after another and trying to make a difference. And if Mark Beckett doesn’t like it, he knows where to find the door. I don’t need his approval … or his panty-melting kisses.
Mark:
I enjoy the simple things in life: a job well done, a cold beer, a hot woman … you get the idea. But there’s nothing simple about the mess I just found myself in. The last thing I need is a pint-sized princess sticking her nose in my business and pushing every damn one of my buttons like it’s her job. But Fiona Pierce may be the only one with the tools to solve my problems—and the power to change everything.

Did you survive the night?

For all of you Game of Thrones fans out there, how did you fair last night? According to my mom, my brother wasn't moved by the episode but I sure was! I won't spoil anything but WOW!! I loved it!!
In books news, I'm still writing every day. I'm currently working on the third book of the Powder River Pack but I'm not sure if this one is going to be the third one or if I will switch it with the book meant to be the fourth. I guess I'll see how it goes.
If you follow me on Facebook, you may have seen my post about a children's book. Well, I'm writing one! I'm targeting it for the 3 to 5 year age group about wildlife. I have a rough draft of the first book done, my boys (especially the 5 year old) loved it and I'm going to have a few people look at it before I figure out what I have to do next. I'd like to do the self-publishing route with it but if I can find the right publisher I may go with them. As for right now, I'm just writing the stories. I have 20 of them figured out.
That's about all I have for you on this Monday.
Have a wonderful week.

Hey, hey, it's Friday!
Okay, I'm being a little odd today. Completely normal, I promise.
This week, I have four books for you! So, let's dive in!

The first read I have for you is A Place in the Sun by R.S. Grey. I somehow missed a rom-com by her. I liked this story, but not as much as some of her others. The humor wasn't overly powerful in this story but it was great nevertheless.
Blurb:
When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.

Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away... that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.

Gianluca.

After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.

But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.

After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

Next up is Saint (Mercy 2) by JB Salsbury. I think I said this with Ghostgirl, but I love JB's fighter books and this story was a little different. BUT, it was a great read.
Blurb:
Milo sold his soul to the devil to save an angel.
Now he’s after revenge.

There are worse prisons than the lush estate of a notorious drug smuggler in Mexico. Mercy lives out her days alone and hidden from the world, but her sleep is riddled with nightmares of the muti and all the boys and girls just like her who weren’t lucky enough to get away.

If the people who kept her as a child are in Mexico, is it possible she could find them?

What starts as vigilante justice unravels a web of human trafficking deeper and darker than Milo and Mercy could’ve imagined. When she comes face-to-face with the people she once considered family, she proves she is far from the Angel they raised her to be.

Racer, son of Remington Tate. Yes, the son of Riptide. I drooled over Remy in Real, Mine, and Remy. Unfortunately, I wasn't as drawn to Racer as I was his father. It was great getting to see inside his head when we didn't get that in Real with Remy but the magic wasn't the same. Maybe it was just me. If you read it, you'll have to let me know your thoughts.
Blurb:
A bad boy with something to prove.
A woman with a mission.
The race of their lives.
The love of a lifetime.
I don’t think his parents expected him to live up to his name—Racer Tate—but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.
He's the fastest, fiercest driver around.
Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep...
but his smile sends me to my knees.
The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He's secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss....
This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I'm supposed to watch him—make sure he doesn't get into trouble. But it's an impossible task. And now the one in heart wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation...or your curse.
He says he wants me. He says I'm the One. But he also thinks he'll break my heart, one piece at a time until it's gone.

No, but most certainly not least, Colel by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! I absolutely love Mimi Jean's worlds. WOW! That is the first thought I had after finishing Colel. I have fallen in love with Mimi Jean's Immortals from the very beginning and as more come out I am never disappointed. I wasn't quite sure what kind of wild ride I was in for with the Mistress of Bees and I'm thrilled to say that I loved every bee-autiful moment of this book! I couldn't put it down, needing to know more, craved it until the story to the end. This book, by far, is my favorite of the series!

Happy Monday!
I know, what an oxymoron, but I'm feeling happy from having a great weekend and waking up today to the love of my family and the words flowing, so it's a good start to the week!
As you may know, I attended a local craft fair this past weekend and though I didn't sell much I had a blast meeting people and visiting with them. I had so much fun, especially after visiting with one wonderful woman, that I am going to move forward with an idea I had shelfed four years ago.
I'm going to work on a children series!
Yes, you heard me right. I'm going to write a series of children books about animals. This woman helped get me excited about it again and I feel good about it. I'm going to focus on a young age group. That's when they are most interested in animals and so, I'll have to write in a pretty simple language.
I'll keep you posted if you're interested as I work more on them.
All of this has me excited, but right now my mind has me focused on the final countdown to the final season of Game of Thrones starting Sunday. Who's ready? ME! ME! And Avengers: Endgame. I can't wait to see what's coming for fans in both!
That's all for now.
Have a wonderful week.
x, Brooke

What Brooke Read 4/5

Happy Friday!
Like I said at the beginning of the week, I'm doing something a little different from now on. Instead of showcasing one book I've read for the week, I'll show you all I've read. Now, the amount will vary from time to time but this week I have four for you!
So, let's get started.
The first book I read was Ghostgirl by JB Salsbury. I love JB, especially her fighters but this is something different from her. It was intriguing and pulls you into a storyline like I haven't read before.
Blurb:
She was brainwashed into believing she could save mankind.
Now, she’s the one who needs saving.

Abandoned with his two younger brothers, Milo Vega was placed in foster care. Now a twenty-year-old high-school senior covered in gang tattoos and working as the school’s janitor, he is living a life vastly different from the one he was destined for.

When another foster joins the family, this one from the psychiatric facility, Milo’s skeptical. A rare genetic condition makes her unlike any girl he’s ever seen, and he wants nothing to do with the one he calls Ghostgirl.

Despite his reluctance, his protective instincts flare when she enrolls in school, and eventually, an unlikely friendship grows between them. When a tragic event snaps her fragile psyche, Milo is faced with the possibility of never seeing her again.

Unless he risks it all to save her.

Barnes and Noble

The next book is Yes, Please by Willow Summers. This sexy read was not only hot but filled with some mystery. It does have a cliffy, but that's my only warning for you.
Blurb:
Hunter Carlisle doesn't take no for an answer

I have no job, a mountain of bills, and I'm a month away from homelessness. It can't get any worse.

CEO prodigy Hunter Carlisle is looking for an admin, and he's picked me. Filthy rich and sinfully handsome, he's the bachelor everyone wants.

But he has a secret.

In order to keep the job, he'll require me to f*ck, whenever and however he wants. No hearts, no flowers, no falling in love--just sex so good it should be illegal.

That's not my kinda bag. I like to hold onto control with both hands. But Hunter Carlisle is a man that gets what he wants, and he wants to make the rules.

My only defense is saying no, but everything in my body wants to say yes...

Frostbite by Claire Marta is up next. This sexy paranormal had me riveted to figure out what direction it was heading.
Blurb:
Jasmine Hunter is a rookie agent working for the covert Supernatural Department of Scotland Yard.

Being kidnapped with a co-worker is the last thing she’s expecting from only two months in a job she loves. She is even more unprepared for the sparks that fly between her and one of their captors, especially when her unique senses are screaming he isn’t human.

Eric is a vampire, deep undercover with centuries of secrets. He has no time for distractions, yet he can’t seem to get the feisty female out of his head, nor the hungering desires she evokes within him.

Forced to work together, they must stop the diabolical plans of Marcel Coupe – the French arms dealer responsible for her abduction. As time starts to run out can they save themselves and Paris from disaster? Or will the sizzling attraction between them be their downfall?

Amazon
Barnes and Noble

The last read for this week is Dirty Little Secret by Kendall Ryan. Warning, there's a cliffy but this sexy read is so worth it! Two brothers, one woman, who will win her heart?
Blurb:
Gavin Kingsley burst into my life in a sharp and unexpected twist of fate. You know his type—arrogant, dangerously handsome and impossible to ignore.

Something dark within him calls to the shadows inside me. I long for the kind of heart-wrenching passion I’ve only read about, and his tragic past reads like one of my favorite literary classics. Raw. Visceral. Captivating. Together, we’re a perfect mess.

The deeper I fall into his world, the more I crave him like a drug—he pushes every boundary I have, and challenges everything I thought I wanted. I want to unlock his heart. I want his dirty secrets.

But in the end, will he be the blade that cuts me ... or the bond that makes my life complete?

Happy Monday again!
My kiddos are back to school and my focus  has returned to my keyboard. I have been working on a few standalones since the beginning of the year. They are a little different from the rest of my books because they are extreme slow burns. I have found that I'm enjoying stories that show more of my female lead before I get into the true romance with my leading man. I'm loving forming a story with just my females and seeing who they are before they meet their man. I hope you, the reader, will enjoy these stories as well.
This coming weekend, I will be up at the local fairgrounds for a Makers Market, so if you are local come up and visit with me. I would love to see you! Big B may be hanging out with me and he may have a few things to sell himself, but he hasn't fully committed to that yet.
This coming Friday, I am doing something a little different for Weekend Reads. Instead of just showing you one book I read for the week, I will showcase all the books I've read through the week. That will only be two to three books but still more than just the one I've done in the past.
Have a wonderful week!
