Today marks the final day of 2018. I know some are ready for the year to end and to see what 2019 has in store, but I'm not one. Sure, 2018 had some downs but it had more ups. I released four more books this year and was able to get my writing mojo back. I have so much more to share with you this coming year. Back in the Ring will be my first release and is book number four of The Predator Series. I will have two other releases this year. They will be the starts of new series, starting with my untitled cupid romance in June and ending 2019 with Courage of Us, Code of Honor book one.
2018 came and went far to quickly for my liking to tell you the truth. My boys grew more and are becoming young men before my eyes. I lost two great men in my life, but this coming year I will be gaining two news ones. I can't wait to cuddle babies. And no, I'm not carrying either. I put my readers group in archive for now but have plans to bring it back soon with a new name and hopefully more participation. I'm going to continue to show parts of me that I'm not used to sharing and talking more. I don't believe in making a New Year's Resolution, but I'm going to push myself more this year to become more physically active. If you know me personally, you know I already am, but I'm planning on reaching for new heights. Called in Saiyan inspired, not that I strive for a Saiyan body, but I want to work hard on myself this year. I each and every one of you have a wonderful, memorable, and safe new year. x Brooke

It's another Monday and another post!
As you can tell from not only the title but the picture that this week is all about fire fighters! My fingers are burning away as I wrap up the rough draft of my rom-com. This book is packed to the brim with sexy men but my favorite in it is the fire fighter. I'm not completely satisfied with the story but hey, most of it is down and I will be coming back to do a complete rewrite like I do with all of my stories. I'm doing a happy dance not only because I'm almost done with manuscript number 20, but my kiddos went back to school today. They were pretty good this winter break but momma was ready for them to go back. I took them sledding, had a lunch date with them, and had tons of fun with them throughout the break, but they spent way too much time together and I'm sure some of you know what I mean. That's all for now. Have a wonderful week! x, Brooke Welcome to my first end of the year weekend reads! I have went through each month and picked out one book that I read to recap on. Up first is Goddess of Forgetfulness by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff in January.
I'm a huge Mimi Jean fan, as you will see in this recap and this one was a great read. Blurb: “FORGET ME! PLEASE!” The Goddess of Forgetfulness has spent seventy thousand years wishing for a man to remember her for more than five seconds. But when her wish is finally granted, she’s appalled. Távas is cocky, handsome, and seven feet of rude muscled man. He can’t possibly be her mate! But all signs are pointing to yes. Okay, at least a strong maybe. Is this some sort of cosmic dating error? She darn well hopes so. Determined to discover the truth, she agrees to one date. Just one! But the night is about to reveal that his real identity is crazier and more alluring than she ever imagined. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads February was also a Mimi Jean book, the first in a new series and adventure for her, The Librarian's Vampire Assistant. This was a refreshing read with a touch of something different from a great author who has an incredible ability to weave humor and danger together. Blurb: NOBODY MESSES WITH HIS LIBRARIAN. . . Who killed Michael Vanderhorst’s maker? It’s a darn good question. But when the trail brings Michael to hellishly sunny Phoenix, Arizona, his biggest problem soon becomes a cute little librarian he can’t seem to stay away from. He’s never met a bigger danger magnet! Even her book cart has it out for her. And is that the drug cartel following her around, too? “Dear God, woman! What have you gotten yourself into?” Things go from bad to worse when local vampires won’t play nice. Can this four-hundred-year-old vampire keep his librarian safe and himself out of hot water? Can he bring his maker’s killer to justice? Yesterday, he would’ve said yes. But yesterday, he didn’t have a strange connection with a librarian. Yesterday, people weren’t trying to kill her. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads March brought the newest from Rachel Van Dyken's Eagle Elite Series. It continues the wild ride and leaves you wanting and wondering for more. Blurb: All is lost. All. I don't recognize myself in the mirror anymore. My thoughts are filled with hatred and dripping with rage. I've lost my soul. She took it to the depths of Hell with her and haunts me with images of what could have been. Sixty lives are mine to take. Sixty lives stand in the way of my vengeance. Sixty lives plus one more. Mine. When the last drop of blood falls — mine will be spilled. Only one person stands in the way. She doesn't realize I'll kill her too. I don't own a heart. And even if I did — I wouldn't fall prey to its lies again. I am Chase Abandonato. Heir to a legacy of betrayal. And I will kill them all. Even if it means pointing the gun at myself. A life for a life. A soul for a soul. Now I lay me down to sleep… I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Blood in. No out. The next stand alone in the internationally bestselling Eagle Elite Series. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads April brought a trilogy that grabbed hold of me and refused to let go. Crash by Drew Jordan was a thriller I didn't know I needed in my life. All three books took hold of me and I devoured them. Blurb: There is blood. There is pain. And there is him. These are the first things I register when I wake up, the lone survivor in an Alaskan plane crash. He carries me to safety over rough terrain and brings me to his cabin in the woods. He has no name. Or none he will tell me. As snow creeps across the harsh and isolated landscape, he is my only company. My protector, my caretaker. A fascinating enigma, with mysterious eyes, gentle hands, and a rough voice that demands more from me than I ever expected to give. I make up different stories, different names for him depending on his mood, because I know nothing about him except that he is my only connection to the real world I want to return to. So I work to please him, plotting my escape, yet all while I start to crave him and every touch of his dominating body. He has saved me from the cold. From death. But in taking me and my body, will he destroy me? Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads May had me falling all over again for one of T.M. Frazier's stories. Up in Smoke was a fantastic read that curbed my hunger for more of the King Universe. Blurb: A King Series Novel. I’m a man without a conscience. I deal in murder and mayhem. I’m the best at what I do. Frankie Helburn is supposed to be an easy job. A means to flush her father out of hiding. Simple. Except there isn’t anything simple about Frankie or the secrets she’s keeping. She’s stubborn as hell and the sexiest god damn thing I have ever seen, sending dark, dirty animalistic desire coursing through my veins. She’s cocaine with legs. A f*cking addiction that makes me question things I’ve never questioned before. Want things I’ve never wanted before. I might have her, but she isn’t mine to keep. If her father doesn’t show his face, she will be mine. To KILL. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads The Controversial Princess by Jody Ellen Malpas was my read for June. I love JEM. This Man is still by far my favorite series ever and I fell in love with this book Blurb: Her father is The King of England. She is The Controversial Princess. Regarded as down to earth by the press and rebellious by The King, Princess Adeline refuses to bow to the royal expectations her title carries. She knows better than anyone that the united front of the royal family is nothing but smoke and mirrors - lies and secrets masked by power and privilege. She wants no part of it, and she will never surrender to The King’s demand to marry a man she does not love. But despite Adeline’s determination to retain her free will, she remains deeply unfulfilled, feeling caged and suffocated. That is until she meets Josh Jameson. Drawn in by his confidence, Adeline is soon captivated by the scandalously sexy American actor. His ability to penetrate her defences overwhelms her - his touch is pure fire, and his allure overpowering. Nothing has ever made her feel so alive in a world where she’s otherwise slowly drowning. However, while Josh may be Hollywood royalty, he’s not actual royalty, and Adeline knows The King and his advisors will do everything in their power to keep them apart. But Josh Jameson becomes the princess’s ultimate vice. And although she bows to no one, she bows to him. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads July has always been rodeo month around my home and this read had me feeling close to all of it once again. Protect Me, Cowboy by Shelli Stevens made me feel close to my home. Blurb: With his competing days behind him, Wyatt Marshall has settled into ranching life in Marietta, Montana. But with the Copper Mountain Rodeo, his only exception, just around the corner, the last thing he needs is a distraction – especially one in the form of a pretty, yet vaguely familiar country singer. For Claire Miller, it's been almost a year since she fled Las Vegas with only her purse and the clothes on her back, and she's been laying low in Montana with a new image. When she and her country band travel to perform in the small town of Marietta, she doesn't plan on getting stranded there for several days. Or for an innocent offer to stay at a nearby ranch to turn out to be more than she bargained for: she recognizes its owner to be the same sexy cowboy she got hot and heavy with – then stood up – in Vegas. With the passion flaring between them and Wyatt getting closer to putting the pieces together, Claire is ready to run again, not knowing the danger that sent her fleeing in the first place is close on her heels. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads This read is a Kindle Unlimited one. Wild Kisses by Addison Moore was a fun read, like all the others in her 3:AM Kisses series. Blurb: iper thinks Owen Vincent is a tool. Once they finish up with their internship she never wants to see him again. Piper James’ first year at Whitney Briggs is starting off great, new friends, a potential sorority, and plenty of guys to choose from. Once she secures a spot in Alpha Chi, she’ll have the greatest freshman year on record. But it just takes one look at the Alpha Chi “hit list” of things she needs to do to get in and she know there’s trouble—and trouble’s name is Owen Vincent. Taming a player sounds impossible. Owen is the only player she knows and he certainly fits the bill, cocky, too many notches to count on his bedpost, and an aversion to relationships. Making Owen believe she wants him is pretty low, even if this entire fling is just a means to an end. But now she can’t stop thinking about him. Yeah, he thinks he’s God’s gift to women, but now a part of her is kind of starting to agree. Girls are still dripping all over him like honey. Piper thinks there’s no way he’d be interested in a commitment with her. Maybe Alpha Chi isn’t what she wants. Maybe it’s Owen? It’s a brand new year at Whitney Briggs and things are about to get wild. Amazon Goodreads Kase of Deception by Riann C. Miller is my September read. One thing I love about Riann's stories is you never know what you are going to get. This is also a Kindle Unlimited read. Blurb: I had everything I needed, except freedom from my past—a past that suddenly feels like a ruse, ready to ruin everything I’ve worked for. No matter the consequences, I’m determined to remove the chains binding me to my biggest regret. I heard the warnings; I just didn’t give a damn, because casualties of war are to be expected. But I never counted on meeting her. One look, one taste, one night, and I discovered my mission is about to destroy my future. Be careful what you wish for…> Amazon Goodreads October brought Beauty and the Mustache by Penny Reid. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have since read a few of the books that come after it. Blurb: There are three things you need to know about Ashley Winston: 1) She has six brothers and they all have beards, 2) She is a reader, and 3) She knows how to knit. Former beauty queen, Ashley Winston’s preferred coping strategy is escapism. She escaped her Tennessee small town, loathsome father, and six brothers eight years ago. Now she escapes life daily via her Amazon kindle one-click addiction. However, when a family tragedy forces her to return home, Ashley can’t escape the notice of Drew Runous— local Game Warden, reclusive mountain man, bear wrestler, philosopher, and everyone’s favorite guy. Drew’s irksome philosophizing in particular makes Ashley want to run for the skyscrapers, especially since he can’t seem to keep his exasperating opinions— or his soulful poetry, steadfast support, and delightful hands— to himself. Pretty soon the girl who wanted nothing more than the escape of the big city finds she’s lost her heart in small town Tennessee. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads T.M. Frazier is back in November and boy, she came back big! The Perversion Trilogy added more to her unique world that I can't seem to get enough of. Blurb: The story of Grim and Emma Jean continues. War is coming. We've come so far. We'll have to fight for what we have. Or die trying. Amazon Barnes and Noble Goodreads And now, December. I didn't know what I was getting into when I picked up this book and boy am I thrilled with it. Crazy adventure is the best way to describe this book in a pinch. Wild, crazy, and a great comic relief is what this book is. If you don't mind off the wall hotness as well as humor then pick this one up. Blurb: Helly is a volatile blonde with a passion for fishing, a grudging tolerance for the fishermen she guides, and a part-time job putting her sexual fantasies in writing. She lives a quiet life in the Alaskan bush, alone on her little lake with only a spooky dog and her gun collection for company. But then Gary, the most obnoxious man Helly’s ever met, roars into her life. The mysterious helicopter pilot moves into the cabin across the lake with a vengeance. And fire. And karaoke. He’s a despicably early riser with a penchant for public indecency, a talent for trespassing… and he’s handsome as the devil, with abs she’d like to lick. Helly quickly realizes her little lake isn’t big enough for the two of them. After an initial attempt at being reasonable, and responsible, and mature, she gives up—and gives as good as she gets. What follows is a feud of eardrum-battering intensity; a no-holds-barred water fight to the tune of a screaming chainsaw, with her panties caught in the crossfire. Just when Helly thinks things couldn’t possibly get any worse, her crazy brothers crash the party. In an unforgiving land where even the wildlife is out for blood, can the pair survive long enough for Gary to capture Helly’s heart, along with her wrists? Or will Gary’s past be the final blow, after Helly loses her boat, her dignity, and what’s left of her ammo? For lovers of Alaskan romance and romantic comedy, Two Cabins, One Lake is a sexy, standalone contemporary romance novel with action & adventure, a splash of mystery & suspense, and a satisfying conclusion. Take a vacation to Alaska, where everything's bigger & wilder. You'll laugh out loud! Amazon Goodreads That's my reads for this year. I can't wait to see what 2019 has in store! x, Brooke Can we say happy hottimas? Talk about a Santa you want to sit on. Okay, clearly I've been naughty this year. But hey, makes life fun! Am I right? I spent all weekend baking for Christmas Eve dinner with my in-laws and Christmas Day dinner with my family. I didn't get done until a quarter after 10 last night with baking rolls. I'm going to be out for the next couple of days and then I will be getting back to regularly scheduled programming with my writing on Wednesday. I hope everyone has a fun, memorable, and safe holiday! Speaking of holiday, if you head over to my Facebook Page, I have 16 giveaways to share with you. I would add A Second Chance but it is in Kobo Plus until March.
If you have KU, feel free to check out my titles: http://www.amazon.com/Brooke-May/e/B00TET4ZQS Happy Friday! Aren't those two words that go perfectly together? Another week is over and we have one more full week in 2018. Next week I'm going to recap some of my favorites of the year. But this week I have two books for you. One is a new release and the other is a new-to-me author. The Boyfriend Collector by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff was great! There is a reason she is one of my favorite authors and that is the fact I can never figure out what where she is going with her stories. For me personally, I figure out things too easily with books but Mimi Jean's are different. And The Boyfriend Collector is a great example. A wonderful read that will make your heart bleed for Rose and leave you guessing. I look forward to book two. Blurb: From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes The Boyfriend Collector. FIND MR. RIGHT IN 30 DAYS? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. Treated like a servant in her own home, twenty-year-old Rose Marie Hale can’t stop dreaming of her next birthday. It’s the day she’ll inherit a fortune, break free from her cruel family, and finally start living her life—finish school, travel, find love. After a lifetime of hardship, it’s all she’s ever wanted. But when Rose discovers she must marry before her twenty-first birthday to claim the money, she has no choice but to push herself out into the world in search of a man she can love and trust. Unfortunately, those are the very things that have been used as weapons against her. With only a month to go, can she find true love? Or will her past hold her back, leaving her penniless and alone? (Part One of Two) Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Ever come across a book you aren't sure about and then start reading only to wonderful what the hell you are getting into? Two Cabins, One Lake by Shaye Marlow did just that to me. It was over-the-top, crazy, and I kept busting a gut from the misdeeds happening. I loved this book! Set in the bush Alaska, you meet Helly and her new neighbor Gary. And boy do they feud! It is unlike any other romance I've ever read and enjoyed it but I like the insane.

Does it feel like Christmas time to you? It certainly doesn't to me, mainly because we usually have a good amount of snow by now and we have nothing. Wyoming looks like a barren wasteland of bitter cold in a not-so-wonder wonderland. It doesn't mean I don't love my home though. I can still take walks without freezing my fingers and toes off, for the most part. My holiday shopping is done except for the ingredients I need for my job as the dessert supplier. I'm making sugar cookies, a French silk pie, and a red velvet cheesecake. My coming Sunday is going to be busy. In book news, I have the cover for Back in the Ring and holy hell, it's hot! Once more, I am in love. February 28th can't come soon enough! I'm getting closer to wrapping up my rom-com. I've been told I have a very odd sense of humor so I hope you will laugh and fall in love with this story once it is ready. If you were unaware, I decided to take a step back from my readers' group for the time being. I'm not going to give up on it but for now, I'm trying to find a balance with my family, my writing, and social media. I'm hoping to give my group a facelift so to speak here in the next few months. That's all for today. Have a wonderful week. x, Brooke Happy Friday!
This week is over and that means the panic can begin for all your late present shoppers. I finished mine up today. I couldn't leave it to my husband to finish up the gifts he was supposed to get so I let Little E loose on picking out gifts for his uncles. Now, I just need to wrap them and the paper can be put up for the year! SCORE! This week is wrapped up with another chapter to my WIP and getting a new cover. God, I'm in love with it. Just like every cover Dark Water Covers makes, I'm amazed with this one. And this week's weekend read for you is Permission by T.M. Frazier. Like all of her books, I fell in love from page one of this trilogy and my heart was pounding overtime even after the last page. Blurb: Permission is the conclusion of Grim and Emma Jean's story. He was my first. But since then I’ve been programmed to enjoy torture. Being watched. Being taken two at a time. I feel nothing now. I’m empty. Hollow. Lost. He knows it. He knows I need more. So, he gives it to me. My body has never felt such pleasure. My heart has never endured such pain My Review: Five Stars! OMG! What a fantastic way to wrap up this trilogy. Permission gives you everything the first two books had and so much more. This trilogy has gripped me and the hooks are still unwilling to give. Until next week. x, Brooke We're two weeks out from Christmas Eve and I thought it would be fun to find some good looking fellas dressed up as Father Christmas for the next couple of weeks. Starting with this one.
My weekend was filled with baking sugar cookies with kiddos and cleaning the house. Yeah, not very exciting. I keep waiting for snow so I can take my kids sledding but we are looking like a barren frozen wasteland. Not enjoying that. I'm working away on my first rom-com. I hit the halfway mark last week and I'm loving how this story is turning out. It is different from my other books. Go figure, when are any of my books alike? But the biggest difference is there are 8 guys for my heroine! You heard …. errr … read that correctly, EIGHT! Back in the Ring is with my wonderful editor. I will start releasing teasers after the Holidays. I hope you have a wonderful week. x Brooke When Kindle Unlimited was offered for .99 cents for three months I snatched it up. Over the years, I have slowly read the 3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore and now that I have KU I'm finally getting caught up. Forbidden Kisses was a nice read. I love how much the author has built into this world of hers and how some of the books feel similar, they all have something a little different. I love humor of all of these books.
Blurb: Rex Toberman is obnoxious and pretentious. So what if he's the star quarterback? So what if my father is dating his mother? I can't wait until he's out of my life for good. The day our parents announce their impending wedding becomes the worst day of my existence. Not only has Rex cemented himself in my social circle, but he's about to cement himself into my family. I don't trust his mother. And I don't want anything to do with her egotistical, womanizing son, but deep down the only way to get rid of them both is to do something unimaginable with Rex himself. I'm playing with fire, dancing in the flames of his wicked grin, and soon enough I'm melting. The last thing I want is to become another victim of Rex Toberman's egotistical, womanizing ways. But there's something about those bedroom eyes, that lewd smile, that body made of steel I cannot resist. Yes, getting rid of my soon-to-be stepbrother is tougher than I ever imagined--especially now that I never want him to leave. Goodreads Amazon Okay, this is a little different for my typical ManCrush Monday post but hello, look at that arm! Drool worthy? I think YES!
I'm working away on something for next year and Iron Man has a part in it. If you're familiar with The Predator Series you may understand what it is. *Wink Wink* A Second Chance's release went off amazingly! I want to thank each and everyone of you who helped share my newest book! I can't tell you how much it means to me to have great readers, bloggers, authors, and friends such as you! I have many more coming in that series and I can't wait to get there with you. I have a giveaway going on at my Facebook Group. If you haven't joined feel free to come on over and check it out. I wrapped up my Christmas presents last night, yes, pun intended. The only one who doesn't have something under the tree is me, but that is changing soon. My boys picked something out on Amazon Saturday and tried to order without me noticing. Sweet boys, the account is linked to all of my stuff so I know what my gift is. Oh well, I'm okay with that. It's the thought of them wanting to secretly get me something that means the most. I hope everyone has a great week and if you in for snow it is a bearable one. x, Brooke |
