How was your Thanksgiving?
Ours was filled with laughter as my now six year old schooled the family in not one, but two games of Uno. This past week I only have two more books under my belt. I'm working on a third, but it's my own and won't be out until May 2020. The first book I read was Mechanic with Benefits by Mickey Miller. It is the first of this author for me to read. It was different but an interesting read. Blurb: A city girl and a broken down car. A one-night stand with a sexy mechanic. True love? Haley: How to find a wedding date at the last second: 1) Overheat your car on your cross country road trip 2) Make sure it's storming 3) Have a one night stand with the sexiest mechanic you've ever seen Liam is the perfect rebound to bring to my sister's wedding. And with my car still on the fritz, it can't hurt to have a sexy mechanic along for the ride, right? I'm not looking for anything serious. Not after my last horrible breakup. Besides, Liam is such a cocky jerk. I can barely stand listening to him. Although I love looking at his handsome face and ripped, gorgeous body. The man works well with his hands, and he's great at running his mouth, too. I can't trust this arrogant mechanic. But maybe I'll let him have another ride. Liam I'm an asshole and I know it. And you know what? I don't give a sh*t. But one look at Haley turns me into a steel rod. She wants me along for the ride. Luckily, I'm always up for an adventure. I'll say whatever she wants to her family if it means I get another night tasting that sweet honey nectar of hers. There's just one problem. Our fake relationship is starting to feel all too real. I want to bring Haley back to Blackwell with me. Now I just have to convince her... Goodreads Amazon The second book I read this week was an ARC of The Librarian's Vampire Assistant Vol. 4 by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. I love all her books and enjoyed this one like all the others. Another incredible read in this steadily growing series! The mysteries have you craving more knowledge than ever before in this fourth installment! The moment I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down. The intricate webs the author weaves throughout all of these books truly leaves the reader wanting to know what happens with each turn of the page. In order to truly understand and appreciate this book, you should definitely read the ones before. I highly recommend this series and this author. It comes out on December 3rd. Blurb: SHE’S MINE. BUT HAS SHE FORGOTTEN? A crazy vampire has stolen my librarian. And if that’s not bad enough, it is my fault. Because I, too, am an ancient, deadly vampire, and it was my job to protect her. I failed. Now, just as I have reason to hope I will get her back, the situation turns into the biggest mystery of my existence. Apparently, this evil vampire has brainwashed her into thinking she belongs with him. I do not know how. I do not know why. But I will get to the bottom of this and win her back. Because I am the motherf*!$%ing librarian’s vampire assistant, and she belongs to me. Or, at least she used to? Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble I'm also currently doing a read through of Bottoming Out, Moto X book 5 which will follow Axle's friend, Jax Hunt finding his love in Paige's friend, Lennox Austin. Have a great weekend. x Brooke

This past weekend was a blast! I was set up at the Holiday Bazaar at the Historical Sheridan Inn surrounded by some amazing vendors. I got the opportunity to visit with people who stopped by to talk books with me and made some connections. It was a great day that was followed with pizza and cupcakes as we celebrated one of my boys' birthdays a little early since their uncle is going to be gone.
Now, I'm up and going and it all started with a brisk walk this morning after dropping my oldest and his best friend off at school. I'm setup in my kitchen watching last week's Supernatural, scheduling posts, and working on Moto X 5. I'll see you Friday! Have a great holiday week. x Brooke It's Friday and as I warned earlier this week, it's a big one!
Last week I released Love, Mercy with several other amazing authors in our Honoring Those Who Serve collection and that's all I read. Each story was wonderful and brought light and life to different experiences soldiers, veterans, and their loved ones go through. Never Forget by Marie Savage Public Relations by Brittany Anne Broken Heartbeats by Lindsay Becs Plane Love by Avery Kingston Saving Ryleigh by K.R. Reese Callahan's Haven by Sandra Daniels Signed Sealed Delivered by Jaime Russell Hidden Letters by Audrey Ravine Love, Mercy by yours truly This week, I dived back into the Penny Ried's Winston Brothers World to wrap it up. I love these stories and I love the humor that is balanced so well with the heavier material covered in the last two books. Beard with Me is the sixth book and book one of Scarlet and Billy's story. Blurb: No one is better at surviving than Scarlet St. Claire and making the best out of circumstances beyond her control is Scarlet’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, she’d be the last person on earth, hermitting like a pro, singing along to her CD Walkman, and dancing like no one is watching. Scarlet is clever, Scarlet is careful, and Scarlet is smart . . . except when it comes to Billy Winston. No one is better at fighting than Billy Winston and raging against his circumstances—because nothing is beyond his control—is Billy’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, he’d be the first person on earth to lead others to safety, overcome catastrophe, or die trying. Billy is fearless, Billy is disciplined, and Billy is honorable . . . except when it comes to Scarlet St. Claire. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Beard Necessities is the final book in the Winston Brothers Series and the final book of Scarlet and Billy's story. I loved the shenanigans throughout this book to bring the characters together. The ending was heartfelt and made me cry tears of joy as well as longing that it is the end of the series. Blurb: No one deserves a happily-ever-after quite as much as the second oldest Winston brother and his lady love, Claire McClure (aka Scarlet St. Claire). Cruelty and circumstance tore them apart almost twenty years ago. Secrecy and bitterness kept them separated. But you know who's tired of their separation and stubbornness? Everyone. Especially Billy Winston’s family. And now they're going to do something about it. Well-meaning interference means the star-crossed lovers can’t stop tripping over each other in the hills of Tuscany, the catacombs of Rome, and the waterways of Venice. Billy and Claire find themselves thrown together and at the mercy of the Winston siblings’ shenanigans. But will their forced proximity bring them together? Or push them even further apart? This second-chance romance brings back the entire Winston gang, playing cupid in one last story of love, hi-jinks, and family collusion. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble I know I said this back during the summer, but I'm going to do my damnest to get my readers group more active. I'm hoping with some changes I'm putting into affect that it will encourage more to post and interact. I feel like I'm missing something with getting more interactions. I also think that's why I got burned out with managing my group. I hope you will be interested to join us. I'm sorry I didn't get What Brooke Read up Friday. When the call comes to go get meat for your family, you answer it. I then spent all weekend processing my deer and getting it ready for hamburger. My family hunts. As much as the antlers are nice, our main focus is to get meat for our freezers for the year. I don't eat red meat but it won't stop me from getting it for my family.
So, be prepared for this Friday and a massive list! I'm diving back into Levi's story, part of the Moto X universe. So far, I'm having fun tormenting him and coming up with one liners. This coming Saturday, I will be at the Sheridan Inn with my books at the Holiday Bizarre. If you're local, I'd love to see you. I will also be doing a book signing at Sheridan Stationary, December 14th from 11 to 1 and would love to see you then as well. That's all for this Monday. Have a wonderful week. x Brooke It's part two. They are all out now!!!
I'm still working my way through all the stories, just finished Broken Heartbeats. It broke my heart is a wonderful way. I can't wait to get into these other stories. Saving Ryleigh by K.R. Reese Callahan's Haven by Sandra Daniels Signed Sealed Delivered by Jaime Russell Hidden Letters by Audrey Ravine Love, Mercy by yours truly Instead of man crush Monday I have part one of the Honoring Those Who Serve Series! Though, I guess it kind of is a mancrush kind of day because these books? Damn!
Never Forget by Marie Savage Public Relations by Brittany Anne Broken Heartbeats by Lindsay Becs Plane Love by Avery Kingston I just finished Public Relations and onto Broken Hearts. Make sure you pick up these great reads! See you tomorrow with more books. x Brooke It was another week of Penny Reid for me.
Happily Ever Ninja and Dating-ish are books 5 and 6 in her Knitting in the City series. It finally occured to me when I finished Dating-ish what it is that I love so much about this series. In certain ways, it reminds me of Big Bang Theory. I don't always understand some of the scientific topics they are discussing, but it doesn't take away from the story and the humor I have found so endearing. Happily Ever Ninja is a whirlwind adventure of Fiona Archer and her husband Greg. Blurb: There are three things you need to know about Fiona Archer… I would tell you what they are, but then I’d have to kill you. But I can tell you that Fiona’s husband, the always irrepressible and often cantankerous Greg Archer, is desperately in love with his wife. Yet as the years pass, Greg has begun to suspect that Fiona is a ninja. A ninja mom. A ninja wife. A ninja friend. After fourteen years of marriage, Greg is trying not to panic. Because Fiona’s talent for blending in is starting to resemble fading away. However, when unexpected events mean Fiona must take center stage to keep her family safe, her response stuns everyone—Greg most of all. It seems like Greg’s wish has come true. Except… not. Amazon Goodreads Dating-ish is more of a scientific take on finding love by experimenting with different ways to replace a relationship. Blurb: There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She’s fed up with online dating, 2) She’s so fed up, she’s willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit. After the most bizarre first date in the history of dating, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities: Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services? But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he’s not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different—and crazier—solution to her dilemma . . . Amazon Goodreads That's all for me this Friday. See you on Monday. Unless you are local to my area and are out and about tomorrow. I will be at the fairgrounds at the Fall Makers Market. x Brooke I wrapped up my first mountain lion shifter book's rough draft last night and today I start dive back into the world of Moto X with Levi Crowe's story!
Oh, how I missed my dirty minded men. Levi likely being the worst of the four of them. He's going to have his life flipped upside down and I can't wait to see where his voice will lead me. A week and one day until Love, Mercy comes out. It and the other books in the Honoring Those Who Serve series are all independent books about veterans and active duty service men and women. I can't wait to read what the other authors came up with. In other news, I'm doing two craft fairs this month. One this coming Saturday and another two weeks after that. December 14th, I will be signing books at the local bookstore for both Courage of Us and Love, Mercy's releases. If you're local, I look forward to seeing you there. Until Friday. x Brooke Happy Friday! Did you survive Halloween? I had to work, but next year I'm excited to go with my kids even if my oldest isn't interested in anymore. We have a ton of candy. I'm going to have the boys sit down and go through it. The local kids' dentist does a buy back every year and then sends what he gets to the troops. I love having my kids give candy not only to get rid of some candy but it makes them feel good to send something of home to our troops.
In book news, I am doing a signing at our local bookstore December 14th from 11 to 1. I've very excited as well as nervous for it. My home is always extremely supportive of local artisans. Now, onto what I read this week. I'm continuing my Penny Reid obsession with Friends Without Benefits and Love Hacked. Friends Without Benefits was a funny read. Blurb: There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Finney: 1) She suffers from severe sarcastic syndrome, especially when she's unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her like Nico Manganiello, and 3) She knows how to knit. Elizabeth Finney is almost always right about everything: the musical merits of boy bands are undervalued by society, “benefits” with human Ken dolls are better without friendship, and the sun has set on her once-in-a-lifetime chance for true love. But when Elizabeth’s plans for benefits without friendship are disarmed by the irritatingly charismatic and chauvinistic Nico Manganiello—her former nemesis—she finds herself struggling to maintain the electric fence around her heart while avoiding a Nico charisma-electrocution or, worse, falling in love. Goodreads Amazon Love Hacked was also a funny read. Blurb: There are three things you need to know about Sandra Fielding: 1) She makes all her first dates cry, 2) She hasn't been kissed in over two years, and 3) She knows how to knit. Sandra has difficulty removing her psychotherapist hat. Of her last 30 dates, 29 have ended the same way: the man sobbing uncontrollably. After one such disaster, Sandra gives in to a seemingly harmless encounter with her hot waiter, Alex. Argumentative, secretive, and hostile Alex may be the opposite of everything Sandra knows is right for her. But now, the girl who has spent all her life helping others change for the better, must find a way to cope with falling for someone who refuses to change at all. Goodreads Amazon Have a wonderful weekend. x Brooke |
