It's that time again!
I only have two books for you today but one is a boxset of three. Crystal Lake Pack by Candace Wondrak. It's a reverse harem story with four very sexy wolf shifters. Blurb: After being expelled from college due to some fantastical circumstances, I come home and find my life has been a lie. As in, I'm not human. Never was. I'm a shifter. A wolf. My mom fell in love with my dad and ran away from her pack, but they've come to bring me back, to show me the life I missed. It's wrought with danger, multiple mates, and forbidden romance...and the worst thing about it all? I think I like it. I think, missing wolves aside, I want pack life. But I'll never get a normal pack life as long as the Crystal Lake pack and its alpha are being plagued by a mystical, crazy death priest, so I choose to do what I can to help my future family. I might be the only hope this pack has at survival, you see. Want to know a secret? I'm not just a shifter, either. To fight a death priest, I'll have to meet him head-to-head with magic. Crystal Lake Pack: The Complete Series includes Limitless, Undying, and Evermore, and has been rewritten from the trilogy's original release. It is now in first-person point of view. This is a slow-burn, why choose romance. This collection also includes a never-before-seen steamy novella detailing the night of the claiming, along with her firsts with each of the guys. Goodreads Amazon The second book is Hagen by Janice M. Whiteaker. Okay, this one was a different kind of shifter book since it's big foot. It drug out at times, but I did enjoy how the heroine knew her shit when it comes to the woods. Blurb: Think you know the truth about the legend of Bigfoot? You don't. Hagen is a cursed man. He pretends not to care what being the beast has taken from him. The limits it puts on his life. On his happiness. But when a woman with hair as red as fire is bussed right to his family's doorstep and put under his watch there's no way he can keep pretending. Rhea makes him want what he can't have. She makes him selfish. She makes him weak. Hagen knows he shouldn't want her and he sure as hell shouldn't have her. His beast disagrees. **** Rhea is different. Unfortunately. A sensitivity she can't explain makes it difficult to be close to people, costing her one career and more than a few relationships. If you could call them that. Now she's stuck in the Appalachian Mountains pretending to hunt a beast that doesn't exist for a job she never wanted with a man who makes her want to break all the rules. Her rules. Hagen could break her too. Tear down all the walls she built so carefully and leave her in ruins. And it might be worth it. Goodreads Amazon That's it for the week. It's likely only going to be a couple of books for a while so I can listen through my books that will be coming out next year. Have a wonderful weekend. x Brooke

I wasn't my kids' favorite person on Friday. Maybe it was because I started the day with a tough hike and tried to do the easier one second. Needless to say, we never made it to the second waterfall I was hoping to get to and ended up turning around because the oldest was worn out. The little one is now known as my hiking buddy.
We had back-to-back birthday parties on Saturday and Sunday, but managed to get some more walking in. Yesterday, it was Dad who wasn't their favorite person. We are back to a regular week day starting with another walk and now I'm getting back into writing for the week. The little one gets to go adventuring with Grandpa this week and on Friday I'm taking them to another waterfall, not the one we didn't make it to. It's an easier one anyone could do on crutches. That's all I have for this Monday. x Brooke You might be seeing a pattern. Well, the truth is, with summer winding down and my youngest getting ready to do two weeks of summer learning, I'm trying to get as much adventures in as I can. So you get What Brooke Read today and next Thursday instead.
Kicking off the possible weekend reads for you is Alpha by Sara Fields. Blurb: He's not an alpha. He's the alpha. And he's going to breed me. I used to believe beasts like him were nothing but legends and folklore. Then he came for me. He is no mere alpha wolf. He is the fearsome expression of the virility of the Earth itself, come into the world for the first time in centuries to claim a human female fated to be his mate. That human female is me. When I ran, he caught me. When I fought him, he punished me. I begged for mercy, but mercy isn't what he has in mind for me. He's going to force one brutal climax after another from my naked, quivering body until my throat is sore from screaming and he's not going to stop until he is certain I know I am his. Then he's going to breed me. Goodreads Amazon Next up is Bear by Delta James. Like the other books I've read from her, there's a great deal of spanking. Definitely a certain audience for this author. Blurb: For centuries he roamed the mountains, restless and wild. Then he chose me as his mate. He was a man once, long ago. Now people say he is nothing more than a myth, a legend, a story locals tell one another around the campfire. The tale of the mountain man who became a bear. But I know better. He saved my life, and he watches over me still. Because I belong to him. The man in him is old-fashioned, from a time when a headstrong woman was taken over a knee, but the beast in him is as wild as this land itself, and when he claims me it will be truly savage. Goodreads Amazon Lastly, I have Aric by Callie Rhodes. I enjoy this series and the different things she has the couples encounter. I can't wait for Cade next month. Blurb: Boundaryland law is simple—whoever trespasses on an alpha’s land becomes his property to do with as he pleases. No woman willingly travels to the Boundarylands. That’s why Aric is so surprised to find a stranger asleep in his bed. She’s not who she says she is…or what she pretends to be. All he knows is that what lies in his bed is his to keep. Jocelyn never meant to come to the Boundarylands. Why would she? It’s where they are—the alphas. They keep to themselves in the wilderness, and beta civilization knows to keep its distance. Especially beta women…for fear they may not be a beta after all. The only way to know your true nature is to feel the touch of an Alpha. Omegas may be rare, but every woman knows their fates are hellish—held captive, broken, mated, knotted, and bred. But all Jocelyn wants is live a life free from fear…but now she’s afraid that while running from one monster, she’s ended up in the arms of a worse one. Goodreads Amazon That's it for the week. I'm off bright and early to hike into a couple of waterfalls. See you later! Have a fun, happy, and safe weekend. x Brooke I can honestly say I'm not quite sure what I did all weekend. It felt like it went by in a haze and now it's Monday morning and I'm getting back to writing. I only managed to get two things done that I wanted. Saturday, I figured out what I didn't need to buy in the way of school supplies and Sunday, I washed my car.
This week, I plan on working more with Never A Lone, the fifth Powder River Pack book and figuring some more things out with future releases. See you Friday. x Brooke I know, I'm a day early, but I'm going to be out of the office all day tomorrow.
This week, I spent time in Audrey Carlan's Biker Beauties world. Now, for you diehard MC Romance readers, I have a bit of a warning. This isn't the typical grits of an MC series. I thought of this series as a sweet romanticized version of Sons of Anarchy, emphasis on the sweet. Biker Babe: Princess. That’s what the club calls me. I’m not frilly, into pink, or expect a man to woo me with chocolates and flowers. I don’t need candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach. I’m not the girl you take home to your parents. I like wild, fun, and good times. I’m the kind of girl you put on the back of your bike and ride through the night…in more ways than one. I like the wind in my hair and the open road before me. I was born a biker princess and I’ll be one until the day I die. The man in my life can try to tame me, but he’ll have one hell of a fight on his hands. Though if he wins, he’ll get the ultimate prize…all of me. Devoted. His old lady through thick and thin. So when I opened my store, aptly named Biker Babe, I didn’t expect to have the biggest, sexiest, most jaw-dropping man walk into my shop and set my world on fire. I wanted him instantly. Only problem, my father is the president of the Hero’s Pride MC, and Taggart “Rex” Crawford is his new Vice President. Our Pride likes to live wild and ride free but everyone knows the President’s daughter is off limits. Goodreads Amazon Biker Beauty: The day I found out I was going to be a father was the scariest, most shocking moment of my life. Worse, my brand new baby girl was dropped off in the arms of my motorcycle club, abandoned by her mother while I was fighting in Afghanistan. Of course, I did what I had to do, and returned home as soon as possible. At this point in my life, women were the last thing on my mind. I could easily pick up one at the bar or partake of the many club girls vying for The Pride’s attention. Then she entered my sights. Anya Markova. It was her eyes I noticed first. Bright blue and haunted. They spoke of a sadness I wanted nothing more than to whisk away. My first attempt at wooing her didn’t go well. Anya wasn’t the type of girl I could just pick up. She was the type I’d need to court…relentlessly. When I found out Anya was my daughter’s much-admired ballet teacher, I knew exactly what I had to do—and I wasn’t above using my daughter’s love of her new teacher to make it happen. Because throughout my years in the club, serving my country, traveling the world, I’d never met a woman who made my soul sigh the way she did. Now, I’ll stop at nothing to make this stunning ballerina my old lady. Goodreads Amazon Biker Brit: The tragedy that controlled my past led me to move as far away from my home in England as I could get. With a degree in library sciences and a will to live life on my own terms, I crossed the pond and headed for the West Coast. I ended up in Grant’s Pass Oregon as the county’s much needed librarian. I was amazing at two things in this life. Books and blowjobs. Men were a fun past time, nothing but scratching a physical itch when needed. Until I attended a Hero’s Pride MC party and met Tank. The man was massive, and I wanted nothing more than to climb him like a tree. Turns out he was into fiery redheads with one thing on their minds. We swore no strings attached. Until we met up again and he decided he wanted another taste. The man had serious ability in the bedroom so I gave it to him. Again. And again. The lines between our no strings started getting knotted up with every new day. Then someone started threatening the old ladies and Tank became more than my shag buddy, he became my protector. When the world around us got truly scary Tank decided things between us were going to change. Forever. I wasn’t ready to be a man’s girlfriend or anyone’s old lady. My Romeo in jeans and leather had other plans for his silk and stiletto wearing Juliet. In the end, I feared star-crossed lovers weren’t meant to be. He believed otherwise. Goodreads Amazon Biker Boss: I needed to escape. To Run. Hide. Whatever it took to get away from my ex and his hold over my life. Being a female in law enforcement had never been easy. Until the day I got an offer that gave me a chance to disappear. I took the leap without a moment’s hesitation. Over the past few months, rogue bikers had been assaulting, violating, and vandalizing the Hero’s Pride MC’s women and their businesses. My role was to go undercover as the Enforcer’s old lady and serve as bait to draw out those responsible and bring them to justice. I would live in the same house as Derek “Champ” Layton, a handsome, huge former pro boxer, and pretend he was my man. I had to let him hold me in public, ride on the back of his bike, and stare at me with those soulful eyes as though I were the very air he needed to breathe. There was nothing fake about Champ… or his touch, his kiss, his everything. Champ made it clear from day one that nothing between us would ever be pretend. He was in it for more than the case—he was in it to win me. Goodreads Amazon That's all folks. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I know I'll be getting a great kick start with five kiddos in the wild. x Brooke Fish aren't liking me in the least this year. I haven't caught a single one. Okay, I take that back, I had a bite on Saturday but my pole got messed up and I lost the fish and it felt like a big one too. Darn it!
But, in other words, and aside from a wonderful sunburn on the back of my neck, I feel ready to finally put some new words down to a brand new story! I haven't written anything new since mid-March and I'm ready to get going on something new which is Powder River Pack book 5. Roper is finally getting his story! Usually, I spend the summer doing second drafts for the coming year but as I got almost through 2023, I decided that I'm good and can wait a little. Yes, I'm that far ahead with stories. So, I'm diving in now. I'll see you Friday! x Brooke Happy Friday!
This week I have three books for you. I hope you find something you like. First off, I have a couple other Borderland books, Troy and Zeke. These are interesting reads if you’re looking for something different in the paranormal department. Troy: Alone and untouched, she’s an alpha’s perfect prey. No woman willingly travels to the Boundarylands. It’s where they are—the Alphas. Faith has come to the Boundarylands looking for her sister—one she thought died years ago. She’ll do anything in order to bring her sister home…even take down the massive alpha who threatens to stand between Faith and the only family she has left. But the massive devil isn’t afraid of Faith or her rifle. He wants something from her—something dark and primal. He craves to know if she shares her sister’s omega nature…and he knows his touch can bring her true essence to life. Omegas may be rare, but every woman knows their fates are hellish—held captive, broken, mated, knotted, and bred. Faith is sure she would rather die than be one herself…but that certainty fades the moment she feels the heat of her alpha’s touch. Goodreads Amazon Next is Zeke: Her only hope for redemption lays in a land so wild and merciless only alphas dare call it home. No woman willingly travels to the Boundarylands. It’s where they are—the Alphas. After killing in self-defense, Darcy is on the run for both her freedom and her life, hunted by corrupt cops, she hides in the only place every beta fears—the Boundarylands. But her gambit misfires when Darcy discovers the land she’s hiding on belongs to an Alpha whose feral nature calls to her in ways she doesn’t understand. Goodreads Amazon Lastly, is a contemporary romance; His Best Mistake by Lucy King. I thought the book would be a little different, but still an interesting read. Is it too much to ask for a relationship that works? When Stella Grant realises her perfect romance is a lie and that she's the other woman, she flees to her remote cottage in the Highlands to lick her wounds. Billionaire currency trader Jack Maclean has nothing but contempt for the woman who stole not only his sister’s fiancé but quite possibly a family heirloom to boot. Nonetheless, he wants answers and he intends to get them. A quick trip north should do the trick. Never in a million years could he have predicted a kamikaze sheep and inclement weather would leave him stranded. Jack might be gorgeous but Stella isn’t in the market for a man, especially one who hates her. No matter how attractive he finds her Stella is the very last person Jack should want. The trouble is, they’re all alone and the chemistry is irresistible, and, well, what happens in Scotland stays in Scotland, right? Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble We had quite the weekend here! 4 am came and we were up and off across the state to Yellowstone for a long day. We took in so much that I feel it was too fast and want to go back. We didn't see any wolves or bears, but took in all the nature while keeping our distance. We don't do crowds in the first place. We got home and crashed before fireworks which is okay because that isn't our thing either.
Yesterday, we were up at the local fish hatchery with family for fish feeding, a picnic, and disc golf. It was my first time and it was interesting, but not my thing. Today, I've got kids bouncing around to various places and trying to wrap up the second draft of Powder River Pack 3. I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend. x Brooke I made up for last week!
Kicking off this post is Pawn by T.M. Frazier. OMG! It was amazing with so much deeper meaning to it. If you haven't started the King Series, pick them up today! Blurb: Born into hell. Baptism by betrayal. His life revolves around violence. My life is on the line. I'm trapped both physically and emotionally. A pawn in a game I didn't know I was playing. Until I met him. Pike acts without emotion, but I know he feels something for me. I see it in his eyes when he looks at me. I feel it when he's close. I know it's real because I feel it too. Lust. Desire. It complicates everything. I'm part of Pike's plan for revenge. What he doesn't know is that he's part of mine. Goodreads Amazon Barnes & Noble Next, I dove into a series. They're interesting and I'm currently in book 4 which I think I like best. Book One: Kian Blurb: No woman willingly travels to the Boundarylands. But Paige doesn’t have a choice. Hunted by a vengeful fiancé, her only hope for survival lays in the hands of a primal Alpha miles beyond the boundary. The reality she finds in the Boundarylands is different than the horror stories she’s been told her whole life. Life is feral and wild, but it’s calls to her in a way she can’t refuse. When Paige touches Kian’s body, everything changes, and in an instant she knows the Alpha beside her will either be her salvation or her doom. Goodreads Amazon Book Two: Ty Blurb: She was left for dead, but Mia wasn’t truly lost until her Alpha found her. No woman willingly travels to the Boundarylands. It’s where they are—the Alphas. Injured and abandoned in the heart of the Boundarylands, Mia knows her chances of making it back to civilization alive are slim. Still, she has to try. But when a massive Alpha captures her first, she can’t stop the desire she feels for him. Mia has always been a survivor, but not even she can fight the overwhelming hunger surging through her, or the need to be his in every possible way. Goodreads Amazon Book Three: Samson Blurb: She can never be his omega, but she’s everything he craves. No woman willingly travels to the Boundarylands. It’s where they are—the Alphas. Cassidy is one of the few trusted betas in the Boundarylands, and maybe the one who knows them best. She’s spent years keeping her head down and studying their ways. But her submissive ways and mundane nature hasn’t stopped the biggest and baddest Alpha from noticing her. Even though she’s no one special, Cassidy can’t deny the pull that draws her toward Samson. She might never be his omega, but that’s the benefit of being the biggest alpha in the pack—you can do whatever the hell you want. Goodreads Amazon That's all for this week! Have a wonderful weekend! x Brooke |
