On the 11th, my family lost someone important to us. It's been nearly ten days and I'm still struggling, wading through the sorrow I find coming back to me in waves, usually in the mornings. That's why there wasn't a blog post last week. I needed to channel my effort into shaping words to express myself to my friends and family. I think I did okay. Friday was spent with family. There was plenty of tears but laughter as well as we all sat together. Saturday was a long day driving up into Montana for the burial, but something great came from that as well. I got to show my children a piece of their family history. They got to see where members of the family were laid to rest, were fortunate to get to see a piece of history in the way of their great great grandpa's gun collection on display in a museum, and seeing silos their great grandpa built still standing on the side of the interstate on our way to and from our destination as well as driving right over where one house their grandpa once lived in. As sad as the occasion was, it brought us all closer together as well.
Now, I'm determined to get back into the right mindset and get cracking on a Powder River Pack book. I'll be back Friday with What Brooke Read. Have a wonderful week. x Brooke

They say third time is a charm. I know this all too well. Last year, I wrote a book that won't be coming for a couple of years and it took me three times. Now, I'm working on one for 2025 that's turning out the same. I'm on the third first draft of it, blending the first two into one book and liking the way it's going so far. I'm already 24k words in so that speaks for itself.
While I'm working away on this book, I'm also getting my next book ready for publishing a month from today as well as figuring out this booktube deal with videos. I don't have much else to share with you for now. Like always, have a wonderful week! x Brooke Where did you go? I know you're the shortest month and all, but what the hell?
Okay, fine, I see how it is. You come in, dump a ton of snow on us, and then leave without a backward glance. That's okay, I've always like March more. Now that it's settled with February, how was your weekend? Between Pokemon Go and Legend of Zelda, it was a video game filled weekend for me and now I'm getting back to a book that keeps changing in my mind. I have a single mom romance in the works. I've written this story two times already and now combining the two into what I'm hoping will be the final rough draft. I don't have much else going on. As always, have a wonderful week! x Brooke I'm getting this in a day early than I normally do since my kids will be home tomorrow. We've had a ton of snow here, what's it like where you live?
Kicking off February, I picked a book because I really liked its cover. The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride by Kati Wilde is that book. I mean look at it! I went on to read all the other books except for the next one which will be out in July. Goodreads Amazon I finished my first monster romance this month as well. It was ... interestingly different. Monsters From My Bed by M.J. Marstens. Unfortunately, the book isn't appearing on Amazon where it was on KU. Goodreads I went back to Kati Wilde next with Evil Twin. Goodreads Amazon I'm still in my search for a mountain man book that I can fall in love with. Wild Scots series came up in my search but it wasn't much mountain man-ish for me. Not even close. But you might enjoy it. Goodreads Amazon Speaking of mountain man-ish, I read two books in one by Penny Reid. Just Folking Around: Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Totally Folked: Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble And then I went dark again. Hunting Winter by Ivy Thorn Goodreads Amazon And then I went even darker with Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton. Goodreads Amazon Dead Ahead by Lexy Timms and Autumn Gaze Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Snow This is Love by Kelsey Kain. Again, I went looking for a mountain man book and still didn't find what I was looking for. Goodreads Amazon My final series for this month is a dark reverse harem Black Creek Series by R.A. Smyth. Goodreads Amazon As always, I hope you find something that you might be interested in. Happy Reading! x Brooke I forgot to post yesterday. Did you notice?
I'd like to say it's because I took the day off but it's actually because I wrote over 7,000 words! I haven't written that many on a rough draft in a long time. I had the night off so I worked away after everyone in my house was asleep and today, I finished the second to last Mating Call book. I'm in love with it and down the road I hope you are as well. In other news, I started a YouTube channel --> Link For now, it's just shorts and I'm working backward on all of my books. At this time, I've gotten to She's No Cowgirl. So, if you want to follow and see what I might come up with down the road feel free! That's all from me. Have a great one and I'll be back Friday with What Brooke Read! x Brooke
I have not one but TWO signed copies of Hit on You up for grabs this week! From now until the 20th, you can enter in a chance to win your own copy!
I don't have much else to add this week. I'm working away on my favorite Long Claw Pride member and dealing with a pinched nerve.
I hope you have a wonderful week! x Brooke While the white stuff is flying outside, I'm in my house dreaming of summer days and all the hiking, exploring, and fishing I plan on doing. I've got cabin fever so bad that it feels like I'm constantly angry. I usually go for daily walks but the amount of ice around here has me going to my treadmill instead. They aren't the same.
So, I'm going to channel my anger into something more productive by wrapping up a book coming next year as well as reworking another for the following year. Or maybe I should get to Long Claw's Sheridan and just let her blow things up? Not really sure where my week is leading me. There will be a surprise this coming week, so stay tuned! Have a wonderful one! x Brooke Better late than never, right?
Another question, does anyone even read this and if you do, do you ever find something to interest you? Either way, I'll keep them up because it helps support other authors. The first of the year started off with a series called Boys of Preston Prep by Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue. I love this author duo and their dark stories! Goodreads Amazon Bet the Farm by Staci Hart Goodreads Amazon Savage Kingdom by Jennilyn Wyer Goodreads Amazon Rebel Rising by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti Goodreads Amazon Forbidden French by R.S. Grey Goodreads Amazon Never King's by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Tainted World by Susanne Valenti Goodreads Amazon And that's all for the month! As always, I hope you find something. x Brooke That's what I was turned into this morning. If you're in the US and watch the Weather Channel, I'm sure you saw how much Wyoming got hit over the weekend. Truthfully, aside from I80, it really isn't that out of the norm for the state. Even then, it's pretty normal for that stretch of interstate to be bad. Anywho, I made the mistake of not starting my car over the weekend and had to contend with a massive moving snowball first thing this morning. First, I had to leave it running for 30 minutes only for all the doors but one to remain frozen. So, with kids already loaded up, I crawled all around and used myself as a battering ram to get the rest of the doors opened up. Add in the fact I had to deal with people who forgot Wyoming does get snow and ice and not know how to drive in it, I'm a ball of rage first thing this morning.
Good thing my first chapter for the day has my FMC getting pissed off. Perfect fuel for that fire. That's about all I have for you. I'm hoping that by the end of the week I'll be able to start recording for My Cowboy's audiobook! Also, I'll get What Brooke Read by the end of the week or weekend as well. Have a wonderful warm week! x Brooke Seeing as this is my own website, I can share this sexier teaser the powers that be on social media don't allow.
We're you given a chance to read over the weekend? Was it Hit on You? If not, I'd still love to hear what book you did read. My 30th release was last week, and it blows my mind I'm that far. All those years ago when I was seated on my couch with a sleeping baby and writing My Cowboy, I would have never imagined I'd get this far. For a long time, I feared I wouldn't have enough stories to keep me going but you should see the notebook I have filled with ideas, some that may never see the light of day and others I'm currently working toward. I'm currently working on a spin-off book to my Long Claw Pride Series that'll be coming out next year as part of a collaboration with some other PNR authors. It'll take me through the end of the month and at least the first week of February before I'm onto the next Long Claw Pride book. Can you guess what sibling it'll be? That's about it for the week. If you haven't had a chance at getting Hit on You here's the link. The paperback is now up as well! Amazon As always, have a wonderful week. x Brooke |
