With a short week, I only got one book read. But that's okay because it was a fun read, especially toward the end!
Not You It's Me by Julie Johnson kicks off with a girl winning tickets for a basketball game even though she knows nothing and leads to her kissing a man on the kiss-cam who wasn't her boyfriend. There are laugh-out-loud moments in this story and others that brought a tear to my eye. I enjoyed this story a great deal. Blurb: Gemma Summers is unlucky in love. She’s known it since third grade, when her first crush blew a spitball into her hair, and a decade-long string of bad dates, boring sex, and abysmal morning-afters has done nothing to improve her prospects. But when a random radio call-in contest lands her courtside tickets to the hottest playoff game of the season, Gemma’s luck may finally be on the upswing — even if it doesn’t exactly seem like it when the dreaded jumbotron kiss-cam lands on her and her date, who’s too busy ignoring her to notice… Chase Croft doesn’t date. Despite ample opportunity as Boston’s most eligible bachelor, the reformed bad-boy would rather put his energy into taking over the family business than weed through a world of gold-diggers to find an honest woman. But when the beautiful girl in the seat next to him becomes a courtside spectacle at the hands of her loser boyfriend, he can’t help but step in and save the day. One kiss. Two strangers. No strings attached. The only problem is, Chase is used to getting whatever he wants. And after kissing Gemma once, he knows one thing… He wants more. NOT YOU IT’S ME is a full-length, standalone contemporary romance about a girl who doesn’t believe in love… and the man who changes her mind. Due to sexy-times and strong language, it is intended for readers 17 and up. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble

Happy Fri-Yay!
This week was filled with a fighter and werewolves! I'm keeping this quick and to the point because I need to head out to preschool graduation. The first book was Untouched by Tabatha Kiss. I couldn't find the right Amazon link for this book. Blurb: They told me to stay away from him. But he couldn’t stay away from me. I'm exiled. Banished from the concrete jungle I call home and forced to spend my summer on my uncle's farm. That's where I met my step-cousin, Tobias, a guy who takes the strong, silent type to the next level. We were told to stay away from each other. Bad influences, they said. But, as we'll soon discover, all we have is each other. Tobias promised to protect me. I promised to keep his secret. I trust him when he says he won't let anybody put their hands on me. Anybody but him. Curvy Olivia Lilyfield is a half-witch orphan with a dark secret of her own. She wants to atone for it by doing good in the world, so when she finds a wolf being tortured in an alley, she doesn’t hesitate to help… even though wolves and witches mix like matches and TNT. As they race to save the disappearing shifters of Seattle, the true danger lies in loving each other. They’re playing with magical fire… and their secrets could end up destroying them both. Goodreads Amazon And the last for the week is Digging the Wolf by Steffanie Holmes. Blurb: Anna It's been five months since my boyfriend was tragically killed in a climbing accident. If only … Luke Anna Sinclair - archaeologist, geek girl, totally and utterly delectable. I knew from the moment her intoxicating scent wafted across my wolf senses, she's meant to be mine. Read on if you love archaeological mysteries, badass wolves, a broken heroine, and a hero so hot he'll have you howling for more. Goodreads Amazon Hot Damn! This picture has inspired a certain story that I have in the line up to write hopefully soon!
Well, Game of Thrones ended last night and boy, has it been a ride. I'm not angry about how it ended but this season was far too rushed, lack of editing shows that. (Coffee cup, Jaime's hand, and the water bottle for example.) The writing lacked the thrill of previous seasons but its ended, so that is that. In my written world, I'm working away on a Veteran's Day piece and loving it! I will be adding some more details to it and I hope it has you feeling all the emotions I do as I write it! I don't have much to say today, so I'll leave you with this. Have a wonderful week and I hope the sun is shining warmly wherever you are. Until Friday. x Brooke This week I have an interesting mix for you!
My week started with finishing The Final Fight by J.B. Salsbury. I love her fighter books and this one kept pulling on my heart. Blurb: When life brings you the perfect person at the worst possible time… On a weekend visit to Las Vegas to visit his brother, Marine Braeden Daniels meets a woman who challenges him in ways he can’t deny. The best part is she wants what he wants. No strings. No feelings. Just fun. AJ is a Las Vegas performer who is finally living her dream. Growing up poor, she’s determined to succeed at any cost. No one will stand in her way—not even a hot Marine who breezes into her life all confidence and a cocky smile. A few stolen weekends and neither can deny the feelings quickly growing between them. But the obstacles that keep them apart become more devastating when the Marine Corps calls Braeden away for a six-month deployment. It’s only six months. What could possibly happen? Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble The next book I have for you is The Alpha's Concubine by Claudia King. I wasn't sure what I was getting into with this book and I would say it is more of a primitive women's book rather than romance but it was an intriguing read. It is the first book in five and quite long. Blurb: Taken from her people. Claimed by an alpha. Forced into a new life. In a time before tools of metal and houses of wood, tooth and claw rule the wild places of the world. The Moon People have been enemies to Netya's kind for as long as the stars can remember. They are monsters, demons, men and women who take the shapes of beasts. The murderers of her father. An outsider taken as a prize by the pack, Netya must overcome suspicion, rivalry, and the division of her own heart as she grows to realise that monsters wear many different faces. Among the Moon People she uncovers the potential of a life she never knew existed. The chance for a woman to become something more than a prize, or a mother, or a concubine. But as the alpha and others vie for her heart, the powerful huntress Vaya seeks to purge Netya from her pack. Before Netya can decide where she belongs, she must endure the trials of love, hatred, and heartbreak. The girl taken as a trophy must become a woman. Goodreads Amazon The last book I have for you this week is Debase by Rachel Van Dyken. It amazes me every time I begin an Eagle Elite book. Though this one is the start of something new, all the familiar faces from E.E. are in this. The intensity grabs you and won't let go even through the ending where you will want more. Blurb: With blood on my hands, I held her. With death in my soul, I took from her. With the devil in my heart, I coveted her. There're many definitions of Hell. My list was exhaustive, my definitions tragic. Tonight I was adding something new to the very top. Girl number six thirty-two. She arrived on my birthday, the same day, every year, I play Russian Roulette and pull the trigger. She was my omen. My end game. She made it personal. And for the first time in my life, I gave in. A virgin mob boss with no soul. My name is Andrei Petrov. They call me the devil. All I want is for the pain to end. All she wants is for me to share it. I am the last remaining heir to a dynasty that should burn in Hell. And my last wish remains for it to die with me. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble There's my reads for the week for you. Have a wonderful weekend. x Brooke I'm exhausted. Between a restless night's sleep and my mind not shutting off due to last night's episode of Game of Thrones, I'm dragging ass on this Monday. Something that doesn't normally happen to me.
Anyways, I'm diving into second drafts for the next few months. I reserve second drafts for summers because they don't take me as long so I can spend more time with my kiddos. They still have a couple of weeks left of school but I'm getting started with a book I will be releasing in November, Love, Mercy. I surprised my kids by taking them on a mommy sons date to Detective Pikachu on Saturday. It was cute. I was my oldest's age when Pokémon first came out so I grew up knowing them all and share the joy with my kids. It was easy for me to figure out what was going on, like in so many things, but it didn't take away my joy of sharing it with my sons. That's about all I have for you today. Have a wonderful week. x Brooke Hey, hey, it's Friday!
Another week is in the books and I finished one! What was going to be The Powder River Pack book 3 is now going to be book 4 before another couple needs to come first. So, Miles and Alexa will have to wait until Brandon and Macy have their story told. I write ahead of releases so I have plenty of time to go back and work on them. Summers are reserved for second drafts and I will be starting all those for 2020's releases. It frees up my time for my kids because they don't take me as long as writing a new story. And now onto what I've read this week! Starting off, I read a collection of short stories by S.E. Hall and Hilary Storm. It was nice getting a taste of different stories from them in on book. Some were steamy and others were hilarious! Blurb: The USA Today Best Selling duo, S.E. Now dive in and Pick Your Pleasure! Goodreads Amazon Next up is Craving (Steel Brothers book one) by Helen Hardt! This is just one book of a story that has you CRAVING what happens next! Blurb: After being left at the altar, Jade Roberts seeks solace at her best friend's ranch on the Colorado western slope. Her humiliation still ripe, she doesn't expect to be attracted to her friend's reticent brother, but when the gorgeous cowboy kisses her, all bets are off. Talon Steel is broken. Having never fully healed from a horrific childhood trauma, he simply exists, taking from women what is offered and giving nothing in return...until Jade Roberts catapults into his life. She is beautiful, sweet, and giving, and his desire for her becomes a craving he fears he'll never be able to satisfy. Passion sizzles between the two lovers...but long-buried secrets haunt them both and may eventually tear them apart. Goodreads Amazon And last for my week is About Love (Just About #1) by Lexy Timms. This book is also part of a series that has a massive amount of mystery to it. It felt like I was reading something like smoke and mirrors. Blurb: The course of true love never did run smooth... William Shakespeare After losing her money and fiancé in one go, Kellie Margolis, the one-time owner of a lucrative business, checks out of society. She needs to become something—or someone—unassuming. She’s hired on as a waitress at a bar called Darkness. It’s in a dangerous part of town, locally known for its Russian-American population. Betrayed and humiliated by her fiancé who used her business as a front for an escort service, Kellie wants to keep her world small and simple. Unexpectedly, her new life involves the erotic, shady, and incredibly charming Sasha Petrov. Sasha’s too good-looking for words. Life for Kellie becomes passionate, adventurous, erotic, and bold—but by no means simple. Though too many signals say Sasha plays dirty, Kellie decides she’d be a fool to deny herself the pleasure he brings her. Their affair becomes more like a fairy tale, and Kellie starts believing Sasha is the love she deserves after her hard times. He lavishes her with opulence and tends to her every need like no one has ever done. When Kellie’s past unexpectedly comes full circle, she realizes how small the world really is. Will an unforeseen discovery break Kellie’s heart for good, or will Sasha be the bad boy hero he’s set himself up to be? Goodreads Amazon You might be tired of hearing this, or maybe you are sick of it too. I'm over the cold! I used to handle it just fine and then my life changed and now I live for the warmth. May is supposed to be filled with sunshine, flower, and yes, the dreaded season of pollen. But my little slice of Wyoming isn't getting that yet. We had snow this morning. AND I AM OVER IT!
So, I looked for a man crush today that might help heat up my imagination. He didn't disappoint. In other news, I'm still trying to process last night's Game of Thrones. I don't think I'm going to be able to due to everything thrown in there and I honestly have no clue what could possibly be coming next. (A reason I love the show so much.) I'm almost done with the third Powder River Pack book, but now it will be pushed back to being book four. Another couple needs to come first. I'm not even going to touch that until this fall though. Summer time is for my kids and rewrites that don't take me nearly as long. I had a craft fair this past weekend. I've discovered the fall and winter ones do better but my son had his own table there and he kicked butt in sales! He makes pony bead animals and perler bead creations. He has a lot of work to do to make more for our next show, whenever that is. I'm proud of him. Usually, he sits next to me and I help sell him but this time, he was across from me and had to do it all himself and with the help of his little brother. I kid you not, my youngest could convince a monk to break his vow of silence. His game was on point this weekend and it works on anyone who isn't me. That's all I have for you this Monday. Until Friday, x Brooke It's Friday and that means I have two new (to me) books to stare with you. Okay, one isn't out yet and I was given the privilege of getting an ARC and it was fabulous!
The Sacrifices of Life by K.L. Humphrey's instantly pulls you in and takes you on a journey of a young lady finding her way through life after tragedy takes a loved one away. Blurb: Sacrifices: we never know how much we'll have to give up. Katy Akers dreams of college and a shiny future were ripped away when her brother was stabbed to death. Drowning in despair since her family was destroyed and her life turned upside down, she takes the only job she can—she becomes a stripper. Now she’ll have to make the decision of her life; will she fight for her happiness or fall back into the darkness Goodreads Amazon Grin and Beard It by Penny Reid is a blast! The second in the series and just as fun as the first. I love the Winston brother's and I can't wait to see what comes next. Blurb: USA TODAY Bestselling Romantic Comedy Series Sienna Diaz is everyone's favorite "fat" funny lady. The movie studio executives can't explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood's most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna. But she has a problem, she can't read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when Sienna's latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park she finds herself continually lost while trying to navigate the back roads of Green Valley, Tennessee. Much to her consternation, Sienna's most frequent savior is a ridiculously handsome, charming, and cheeky Park Ranger by the name of Jethro Winston. Sienna is accustomed to high levels of man-handsome, so it's not Jethro's chiseled features or his perfect physique that make Sienna stutter. It's his southern charm. And gentlemanly manners. And habit of looking at her too long and too often. Sienna has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Hollywood heart-throbs. But can she traverse the tenuous trails of Tennessee without losing her head? Or worse, her heart? Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble |
