My view yesterday was amazing
A hike that was supposed be me 2 miles (one way), six children, and only two moms, sounds like fun right?
Aside from the wind, it was. We felt like we were on top of the world once we reached our destination and then we hiked back out. I'm not sore in the least and ready to take on the world today with staring a new story, Bronc Riding Cowgirl!
I also have a full football schedule and can't wait to see my boys play for the first time this season.
What Brooke Read
I don't have a big list for you this week, just two.
The first is Whe Love Comes by J.H. Croix.
In this captivating love story set against the stark beauty of the Alaskan wilderness, Hannah Gray returns to her hometown after the death of her parents. Once wild and impulsive, she shut her heart off to love and adventure after her parents died. When she meets Luke Winters, their immediate attraction is overwhelming.
Burned once before, Luke has committed himself to nothing but casual dalliances with women. Rugged and smoldering, he finds no shortage of women happy to oblige. When Hannah comes along, he questions what he might be missing. Both fight the depth of their feelings—love is not part of the plan.
Hannah’s sense of identity is shaken when she unearths a surprising truth about her family. Meanwhile, Luke’s interfering family and complications from his past challenge Hannah and Luke to face their true feelings for each other.
Can two people who don’t believe love is worth the risk find the courage to face their fears and open their hearts?
My next read is The Trouble with Quarterbacks by R.S. Grey. You know how much I love her books and this one had me busting my gut over and over again.
CANDACE: KAT & YASMINE! DO NOT DALLY! Come straight home after work. Kat, don’t take the long route from the subway station just so you can pass by Cute Hot Dog Guy. This is important!
I’ve had THE BEST DAY. You won’t believe it. There I was in my preschool classroom, washing a bit of poo out of some soggy trousers, when this absolute babe came to collect his nephew from my class.
Truthfully, I thought I’d blacked out for a moment when I first saw him. He was a proper hunk with glorious brown hair, quite tall, and he had these arms. Are muscly arms supposed to turn me on? I’m panting just thinking about them.
Anyway, he told me he’s a professional foosball player. At least, I think that’s what he said. The tots can get quite loud near pick-up time.
YASMINE: Foosball? What are you on about? Have you gone mad?
KAT: Oh sod off. So what if I like to have a good look at Hot Dog Guy’s arse on my trek home after a hard day’s work? It’s called self-care.
CANDACE: Kat, you’re hopeless. Yasmine, yes—foosball! I suppose it’s a big thing over here in the States? We must investigate and learn everything we can.
By the way, he’s called Logan.
Logan + Candace. I think that sounds quite nice! I can hear the wedding bells now. Dum dum da-dum.
YASMINE: Oh good grief. I suppose we can do some snooping when I get home. I’ll grab wine on my way.
KAT: I’ll grab hot dogs.
THE TROUBLE WITH QUARTERBACKS is a hilarious romance about unlikely love found between a British preschool teacher and the professional quarterback who sweeps her off her feet.
That's it for the week! Have a wonderful, happy, and safe weekend!
Brutus by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes BRUTUS, a Paranormal Romantic Comedy that will surely cause evil vampires to kidnap the author.
Brutus is not your average immortal warrior. He leads the gods’ army, he’s tough as nails, and his mind is so powerful, he no longer speaks to communicate with his men. Some call him telepathic; he just calls it being a badass. But despite the many bloody battles and hard-won victories, this is one mission he’s not so sure about. There is a plague sweeping the immortal world. Gods, vampires, incubi—no one is safe, except for those with mates, and sadly, there just aren’t enough women to go around. To keep the gods’ army intact, ready to protect the human world, Brutus must convince a group of ancient female warriors, located deep in the Amazon jungle, to return home with him, and…well…go on dates with his men. But when the toughest, meanest, man-hating, sexiest woman of the group catches his eye, all he can think about is conquering her heart.WARNING: This book contains a smokin’ hot immortal warrior looking for his forever love, a randy invisible unicorn, and bad, bad, such bad language. Okay, and some sex. Fine, yes! Lots of sex! And a kitten, a bit of violence, a man who loves knitting, mannibalism, unruly deities, Mayan priests who babysit animals, a naked goddess who wears a bee bikini, leather pants (for men), a very randy ghost who’s desperate for her HEA, anecdotes about evil mermen, a BIG plot twist even the author didn’t see coming, and a ton of romancy kind of stuff.

What Brooke Read
Three for you this week!
First off is Sexiled by Mickey Miller. I really enjoy his books, but this one didn't hit the mark for me, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy parts of it though.
Ruggedly handsome superstar athlete turned hedge fund manager.
My one night stand mistake.
And now my boss at my internship.
Every staff meeting, I’m taken back to the night I was filled with a need I never knew was possible.
Sparks fly between us in the office.
The question remains, are they sparks of attraction?
Or of hate for the man who gave me the hottest night of my life…
And never called?
Either way, I’m isolated at this job with Morgan for 10 weeks.
Time to have some fun. Even if that means breaking the rule I made about no relationships while at this internship.
Let’s just say, if Loretta in H.R. knew what Morgan and I were getting up to….we might have to sign some paperwork.
Even if I still do hate him a little, the more I get to know the man behind the legend, the harder I fall for him.
Not just with my body—which caved to him from his first touch—but with my heart.
Stars like Morgan don’t fall in love with nerdy girls like me, though…right?
Turns out there’s much more to Morgan than meets the eye. And I’m the girl to bring it all out of him.
Next is Cade by Callie Rhodes. Like the rest of the series, it is an acquired that I definitely have. It was a great read where the alpha doesn't just take his mate but heals her as well.
Her fate was already sealed—an omega trapped forever with a brutal alpha who made her life a living hell…until he came along.
Welcome to the Boundarylands. A place where the only way to know your true nature is to feel the touch of an Alpha. Omegas may be rare, but every woman knows their fates are hellish—held captive, broken, mated, knotted, and bred.
Emily believed every word of that warning. She gave up on happiness months ago when a silly game turned into a life sentence as a violent alpha’s mate. Now the best she can hope for is a quick end to her suffering.
But then a chance encounter changes everything.
Suddenly, there’s an alpha who is willing to fight for her—Cade.
He says he wants her just the way she is. That he’s willing to battle all her demons—real and imagined—if it means he can claim the title of her alpha.
But, deep down, Emily can’t help but wonder if she’s just trading one nightmare for another, even though the fire that Cade’s touch ignites makes her feel more alive than ever before.
Last, but certainly not least is Brutus by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. It's coming out next week and I got an ARC. I haven't enjoyed a read like I did with this one in a while. The humor, the plot, twist, and everything about this book made for an enjoyable read. I read it in 5 hours and didn't want it to end, but so looking forward to more!
CAN THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST IMMORTAL WARRIOR WIN THE HEART OF THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST IMMORTAL WOMAN?
Brutus is not your average immortal warrior. He leads the gods’ army, he’s tough as nails, and his mind is so powerful, he no longer speaks to communicate with his men. Some call him telepathic; he just calls it being a badass.

That's it for the week. I'm off to get some writing done and then listen to Taking Flight, Code of Honor book 2, tonight.
Have a wonderful, happy, and safe weekend!
Coming to a Close
Another mountain filled weekend that ended too soon. The peace I find up there floods my heart with relief and has always been able to recenter myself after some time away from distraction.
Now, I'm back to the final week with my kids before school kick starts next week. I don't have much to share this week.
Have a wonderful Monday. See you Friday.
What Brooke Read
Only one this week but it's the trilogy. The Boulder Wolves Series by Olivia Wildenstein is what I have for the week. Each book is about 50 chapters, but it's an intriguing story. Some parts drag on and I'm not done yet, just started the third book. I can't wait to see how it will all come together.
Enter a world where humans transform into wolves and hearts beat as hard as they break.
When the Alpha of the Boulder Pack dies, his son vies to become the next Alpha, and no one dares challenge him. Except Ness. The only female in her pack. Thus begins a treacherous game. The rules: winner takes all...including loser's heart.
Just when she thinks the fight is over, her place among the Boulders and at Liam's side is compromised. First, when her cousin claims Ness helped him elude his death sentence. And then, when August Watt, Ness's childhood friend, comes home to Boulder.
Ness is tired of fighting, tired of having to prove herself worthy of her pack's trust. But when an enemy pack arrives and threatens the Boulders, she has two choices: step aside and let the wolves who have pushed her away fend for themselves, or step up and help them fight the newcomers.
Ness has never stepped aside...not for anyone.
Why would she start now?
I'm off to enjoy the mountains for the weekend with family.
Stay safe, healthy, and happy.
Two weeks left
Masks are bought, lanyards ready, and school supplies all packed up. School starts in a little over two weeks from now and it's going to be interesting. This summer has flown by with adventures in the mountains and plenty of fun in the sun, but I'm ready for some quiet around the house during the day. The fighting is getting to the extreme, like it does every year, and other than that, hunting fever is beginning to set in at our house. The oldest gets to hunt this year for the first time and our freezer is starting to look a little bare.
I'm back to work today with working on the fifth Powder River Pack book.
Have a wonderful week.

They giggled and laughed and gossiped until Gal’s cheeks hurt. Man, she needed this. She absolutely needed to make more time to hang out with her friends and rekindle all the good times they’d had together. Who would have thought three girls who’d bonded over the horrors of the aerobics unit in their mandatory high school PE class would be such good friends after six years apart?
Last but certainly not least is Richer Than Sin by Meghan March. Unlike some of her other stories, this one didn't pull me in.
From New York Times bestselling author Meghan March comes a saga of forbidden love and second chances.
A Riscoff and a Gable can never live happily ever after. Our family feud is the stuff of legends.
Ten years ago, Whitney Gable caught me off guard with her long legs and grab-you-by-the-balls blue eyes.
I didn’t know or care what her name was.
Like any Riscoff worth the family name, I went after what I wanted. We burned like a flash fire until she married another man.
She hates me, and she should.
I objected on her wedding day.
Now she’s home, with those same long legs and man-eater stare, but there’s no ring on her finger.
They say a Riscoff and a Gable can never live happily ever after . . . but I’m not done with Whitney Gable.
I’ll never be done with her.
That's all for the week. Have a wonderful weekend!
Friday's hike was a super easy one and lead to an adventure with the boys. They played in the rocks and we enjoyed a wonderful lunch by one of the pools. I wanted to keep hiking, but they were content with where we ended.
And then today, grocery shopping ended with me knocking myself in the head with the back hatch of my car and now I'm sporting a quail sized egg on my right temple. Talk about a headache.
I'm working on getting back into the writing swing and that's about all I have to share with you today. I'm also continuing to work on swag stuff for a store, it's slow coming since supplies are limited here where I live.
See you Friday.
