Ready for this? I'm not going to give the blurbs like I used to, just links. Next month will likely be longer since I just started this. So, let's get going! First off, I have The Best Friend Zone by Nicole Snow. This KU book was fun and a light read. Goodreads Amazon Next is Left for Wild by Harloe Rae. I really enjoyed this book, minus one minor detail that I'm sure most wouldn't even blink twice at. Goodreads Amazon The Power of Hades, The Passion of Hades, and The Promise of Hades by Eliza Raine and Rose Wilson follow a retelling of Persephone and Hades' tale. I found this series fun enough that I moved onto The Warrior God that follows Ares. The Power of Hades: Goodreads Amazon The Passion of Hades: Goodreads Amazon The Promise of Hades: Goodreads Amazon The Warrior God: Goodreads Amazon Still with me? Only four more to go! Carrie Ann Ryan is a favorite of mine and she doesn't disappoint with Wrapped in Ink. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Fire of the Wolf by Lori King was a new to me author. Goodreads Amazon Next is Hidden Hollywood by Kylie Gilmore. My first book of hers was a co-written piece with Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Fanged Love. Goodreads Amazon Last, but certainly not least is The Librarian's Vampire Assistant by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes out tomorrow! I loved this book as much as the others that came before! Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Well, I hope you survived the first monthly installment! x Brooke

I haven't gone for a walk in three days now. I know, some may say "big deal?" but it is to me. I thrive on my morning walks with Timber, but considering how much snow and cold we've gotten and I was fighting a head cold my kids so kindly gave to me, I thought it best to stay indoors even if I craved to bundle up and get out. Now, this morning with me feeling better I could have but even I draw the line at 15 below.
Instead, I'm getting myself going on a new WIP. I wrote this story back in 2017, but I'm starting all over. I had written it around the time I lost my grandpa who I was extremely close with and the story just lacked a soul to me. And my stories have to have one of those for me to move forward with it. It's darker too than anything else I've ever written, which might be another issue. I don't know if I can go dark. But we shall see. I finished Malayeka over the weekend while I was forced to stay behind again with going hunting, but I'm glad I have the story done. It's a sweet one like all the others. As you can see from the picture, I have quite the spread laid out for the second day in a row to get this book plotted. Wish me luck. x Brooke We woke Saturday morning to snow falling and it still continues today when the husband and I made a run out of town.
Saturday was a great day to stay in and watch my niece's final volleyball games and get some writing done. Sunday was the same. I'm almost halfway done with Malayeka! Today, it's back to writing, watching my husband bleach a skull, and stay warm. If you noticed, last week, I didn't do a "What Brooke Read" segment. That's because I've decided to do it once a month rather than every week. So on the final Friday of every month, I'll make a post with my top reads of the month. I hope you have a great week! x Brooke It's a chilly October morning here in the 307. I got to sleep in a little which is great because I twisted my back last week and have barely been able to get around. Boo for me since I wanted to go hunting this weekend. But today I'm feeling better and the oldest and I went for a nice chilly walk and got rained on. I'm diving back into working on Malayeka, Heartstrings book 3 and hanging out with the family since we are all off today. That means I'll likely be playing Minecraft after I'm done writing for the day. That's about all for me today. Have a great week! x Brooke Happy Friday! It's the end of another week and I'm figuring out a new book.
Three very different books for you this week. First, we'll start with His Stolen Bride by Mink. It's a mafia romance that was a quick and easy read. Blurb: Santino I meet my new bride while her husband’s blood is still cooling on my hands. Bella, the Carrera daughter with the sharp tongue and the bright eyes. She thinks she’s nothing compared to her younger sister, but she’s wrong. Bella is everything, and I’m going to prove to her that I’m worthy to be her husband. Once I’ve exacted my vengeance on all who seek to take what I’ve fought and killed for, I’ll have my beauty on her back, panting my name, and thanking God I claimed her as mine. Bella My first husband found me plain and unappealing. But now he’s dead, and I have to look out for my sister as well as my own neck. But Santino isn’t the mafia king I expect. He’s ruthless, hard, and violent, but not to me. To me, he shows kindness, consideration, and above all, an attraction that I can’t explain. I want him, but my duty to my sister is always at the forefront of my mind. Falling for Santino wasn’t part of my plan, but his irresistible assault may be the only thing that can change me from a Carrera to a Baldoni, but at what cost? Cuddle up with a kitten and a cuppa for this tale of stolen love and happily-ever-afters. Goodreads Amazon Next up is a new one by Laura Thalassa, Famine. I'm enjoying the details she puts into this story and the others of her series. Blurb: They came to earth--Pestilence, War, Famine, Death--four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all. Ana da Silva always assumed she’d die young, she just never expected it to be at the hands of Famine, the haunting immortal who once spared her life so many years ago. But if the horseman remembers her at all, he must not care, for when she comes face to face with him for the second time in her life, she’s stabbed and left for dead. Only, she doesn’t quite die. If there’s one thing Famine is good at, it’s cruelty. And how these blighted bastards deserve it. Try as he might, he can’t forget what they once did to him. But when Ana, a ghost from his past, corners him and promises pain for what he so recently did to her, she and her empty threats captivate him, and he decides to keep her around. In spite of themselves, Ana and Famine are drawn to each other. But at the end of the day, the two are enemies. Nothing changes that. Not one kind act, not two. And definitely not a few steamy nights. But enemies or reluctant lovers, if they don’t stop themselves soon, heaven will. Goodreads Amazon The last one is A Baby for the Bear by Jenika Snow. I've read some of her other books, this one was short and light. Blurb: February “Ary” Felina, an ocelot shifter, decided getting drunk on her Dirty Thirty birthday was a bad idea. But at the end of the night, she was in Charlie Wylde’s bed, the intimidating alpha bear shifter in the town of Sweet Water. But then the unthinkable happened. The contraception broke during their wild, passionate night, and Ary found herself knocked up by the possessive, growly shifter. When Charlie saw Ary for the first time, he instantly wanted her. The bear in him needed to mark and claim her until everyone knew she belonged to him. And so he made that happen—took her to his home and claimed every part of her in the raw, animalistic way of his kind. She might’ve thought this was a one-off night of pleasure… but she was wrong. He wasn’t letting her go, especially not now that she carried his baby. Goodreads Amazon That's all for the week. I'm going to get back to writing now. Have a happy, healthy, and safe weekend! x Brooke Rare moments are times you want to hold on in the future that will make you smile.
This weekend was packed full of them. From a beautiful fall and hunting themed wedding to the successful first hunt of our oldest, we had loads of great memories. Saturday, I dressed up (as the picture shows) and we celebrated one of our favorite people's wedding. The bride was beautiful, the gathering was great, and the memories will last forever, even if most of the men wanted to be hunting. Sunday, the warden (husband) took the oldest out for his first hunt. He's gone before, first time was when he was four and was with me, but he's been raised around bringing in our own food for the year. He's respectful and took his time to make his shot count. I won't share the pictures I'm so proudly sharing to family because I know not everyone agrees with our lifestyle. I believe in each their own and we are all entitled to our own opinions. That being said, I'm very proud of his clear, ethical hunt. First of so many more to come. Today, I begin working on the third Heartstrings book, Malayeka. Like the other two, I'm hoping my humor comes through clearly for readers. That's all for me today. I'm going to continue enjoying the memories of my weekend's rare moments and embrace the week for a crazy football schedule and writing. Until Friday. x Brooke I only have two for you this week. It's been non-stop so far and I don't get a chance to slow down until Sunday ... maybe. That will depend on if the oldest tracks down a deer or not.
Anyway, let's get started. First off I have Man Card by Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby. This was a fun story, but the book boyfriend Braht wasn't for me. I'm not big into men who manscape. Blurb: Nothing ventured, nothing banged... Ash I still don't know how it happened. One minute I was arguing with my arrogant competitor--our usual trash-talk over who deserves the larger commission. But somehow I went from throwing down to kneeling down... It can never happen again. I don't even like Braht. He's too slick. He's a manipulating mansplaining party boy in preppy clothes. So why can't I get him out of my head? Braht There are two things I know without question. One: Ash and I are destined for each other. Two: never trust a man with a unibrow. Ash is my missing piece. She's the sweet cream to my gourmet espresso. And nothing gets me going faster than her contempt for me. They don't call her the Ashkicker for nothing. Eventually I'll win her over...if my past doesn't ruin everything first. Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble Next is Catching Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds. It's been a while since I've read one of her books and found this book fun and enjoyable. If you have KU, the audiobook comes with it. Blurb: Leah Emerson isn’t looking for a man—she’s looking for the right man. But her mother’s idea of a great catch leaves her cold, and she’s pretty sure her cocky, arrogant, and way too good-looking new neighbor isn’t the one either. If only her wayward cat would stop jumping through his window, she could get on with her life. Tyler Duncan moved into town for a new job, not to fall in love. But he always goes after the things he wants in life with steadfast determination…and he wants Leah Emerson. He wants her smiles, he wants her touch, and he definitely wants her in bed. Unfortunately, someone else wants Leah—in the worst way. Now Tyler’s on a mission to protect the woman he’s falling in love with while proving he’s worth falling for, and Leah must decide whether Tyler is a catch worth catching… Goodreads Amazon That's it for me this week! I'm getting dressed up in a dress for a wedding this weekend. Ashley! I hope you know this is my sign of love for you! Have a happy, healthy, fun, and safe weekend! x Brooke |
