Second week of summer is coming to an end and I managed to get three books under my belt! I'd say that's a good start to my summer reading.
My first book was the newest by R.S. Grey, Coldhearted Boss. This story was fun, hot, and brought a realness with how hard life can be. Blurb: I’m desperate and destitute when Lockwood Construction rolls into my small town with an offer too good to pass up: high wages to any able-bodied man willing to join their crew. Say no more. I throw on baggy clothes, tuck my long hair under a baseball hat, and apply for a job. Unfortunately, my half-baked idea of disguising myself as a guy is flawed from the beginning. As Shakira says, these hips don’t lie. Still, I like to think I might have pulled the whole thing off save for one thing: I know my boss. Last month, we met at a bar, and after a fiery first encounter, it seems we’re destined to be sworn enemies. Ethan Stone is ruthless and arrogant, a man I never would have crossed had I known how much he likes to toy with his prey. He should just fire me and be done with it. Instead, he decides to make me his personal slave. Oh right, I think they’re calling it personal “assistant” these days. It’s torture, all of it—his bad attitude, his ruggedly chiseled face, his desire to grind me into dust. Every one of our friction-filled battles burns hotter than the last. A girl can only hold out for so long. Soon, I’m bound to go up in flames. My objective? Survive the heat long enough to send home a paycheck. My real objective? Stop having X-rated fantasies about my coldhearted boss. Goodreads Amazon My second read isn't out yet, but if you are a fan of intriguing vampires and mystery than The Librarian's Vampire Assistant books by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff are for you. The Librarian's Assistant, Michael, keeps getting more and more compelling. With the end of the last book, there are mysteries still out there to figure out that you don't miss a beat at the beginning of this story. Mimi Jean keeps this story going strong with an interesting storyline and characters. A complete page turner until the end and even then, I was left wanting more. Blurb: FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOUR BOSS JUST CAN’T GET MORE AWKWARD... Michael Vanderhorst is not your usual vampire. For starters, he works in a library, is in love with Miriam, his hot nerdy human boss who has no clue what he is, and he looks like a college student. In reality, Michael is an ancient deadly vampire, an ex-assassin, and is currently the de facto king of his kind ever since their ruling party disappeared. To where? He doesn’t know, but if he wants his life back, he’ll have to find out. (Mystery!) Especially because a civil war is brewing, and being king makes his librarian a mark for his enemies. (She is, after all, his biggest weakness.) With a global uprising about to explode, Michael must give her the protection of his army. Only one problem: She must become his queen first. But every attempt he makes to tell her the truth is met with extreme hostility. “Vampires aren’t real. That’s crazy talk, Michael!” Clearly, the topic frightens her. With time running out and her life on the line, Michael is left with one option: Marry her. Without her knowing. Can he pull it off? And what will happen when the fight comes to their door? Goodreads Amazon Barnes and Noble My last read is Trouble at Bradshaw High by Meagan Brandy. If you enjoyed Fallen Crest books by Tijan then you will like this world Meagan has crafted. Filled with questions, danger, off the charts steam, this is the second book of this must read series. Blurb: "You don't belong." No words whispered in anger have ever rung more true. They're the Kings of Brayshaw with the world at their feet, destined for greatness and in need of control. I'm the girl from the gutter with nothing to offer and as defiant as they come. They say it doesn't matter, that I'm one of them now, and nothing could ever change that. Not even me, should I dare try. But they're wrong. They underestimate how far I'll go to protect them. Trouble is coming...and they have no idea. Goodreads Amazon
