How is it that May is already at the halfway point? Where is the time going? Not that I'm going to complain, the kids are almost done with school which will free up a lot of my time.
Ready to see what I read this week?
Okay, here we go!
I started off finishing up the Black Mesa Pack, books 1-4 by J.K. Harper. I'm a huge werewolf fan but this series wasn't much to my liking.
Guardian Wolf #1
Being a Guardian for the Black Mesa Wolf Pack meant everything to Lily Bardou. Until the night she made a fatal mistake. Since then, she's kept her wild side tightly leashed, denying her responsibilities to both her pack and her own sensual needs.
Then Kieran Rendall stalks into her life.
Kieran's wanted Lily for two long years, and he's finally done waiting. Convinced she's part of his destiny, he's back in town with a plan: to help Lily let go of the past--and to unlock her caged passions.
Alpha Wolf #2
As a Guardian climbing the ranks in the Black Mesa Wolf Pack, Sara Kenyon's life is ideal. A sexy firecracker, she's never regretted her carefree love-'em-and-leave-'em attitude. But when her one-time fling, smokin' hot Rafe Bardou, wants the only thing she can't give him--commitment--she starts to question if freedom is everything she desires.
Rafe's patience is legendary. Yet for all his strength and control, Rafe craves something he can't have: free-spirited Sara as his mate. Her red-hot kisses have eluded him for over a year, but he can't stop thinking about how they once tangled the sheets together. Now he's out of time. Her commitment to him is essential--not only for his own happiness, but for the future of the Pack.
Losing control isn't an option. But it may be the only way to convince this sweet vixen he's her alpha wolf.
Hunting Wolf #3
Caleb Bardou has a quick answer for anything that comes at him: his fists. Barreling through life, damn the consequences, has always worked for him. With dangerous rogue wolves threatening his Pack, he must be a ruthless hunter. But when a delicate little she-wolf gets in his steamroller way, he has to find a different strategy to win the unexpected battle for her body and her heart.
Each time civilized Rielle Amoux thinks about caveman Caleb, she gets all tingly inside. Yet she refuses to be flustered by a hot-headed, chest-thumping, he-man of a wolf. Except Caleb is sexier than sin, and he arouses her on a primal level--the part of her she's always denied from fear she won't be able to control it. But if she doesn't free her wild side soon, she risks losing her wolf forever....
Between vicious rogues and sweetly seductive Rielle, Caleb has his hands full. Just when he thinks he has everything under control, his trigger temper erupts again. This time, the fallout could be disastrous for his Pack--as well as for any chance he has with the sexy little wolf who might be his destiny.
Wild Wolf #4
Cowboy Tate Bardou is a successful horse whisperer with a star-studded client list. He's also a sweet heartbreaker with a panty-melting smile. As a dedicated Black Mesa Wolf Pack Guardian, his days have meaning and purpose. Despite his content life, something essential is missing from his soul. And damned if he can figure out what it is--until he meets stunning, half-wild Claire and everything falls into place.
Wild wolf Claire Amarok lives by her sharply honed instincts, leading a fiercely guarded solitary existence. Growing up without a pack, she was raised to believe they inhibit freedom. But an independent wolf leads a lonely, precarious life. Then she meets Tate, and her untamed heart is finally captured. Tate, however, is undeniably bound to his Pack--and Claire will never submit to their restrictive rules.
Yet when a dangerous wolf from Claire's past returns, Tate and his bewitching wild wolf must join forces. Otherwise, they risk losing everything...especially what matters most to them both.
Barnes and Noble
Next is Kiss King by Mickey Miller. I like Mickey's books but this one didn't hold my attention like others.
Your chest overloads with butterflies while his strong hands press your arms over your head.
You stare into the eyes of the brutally handsome Campus King as you recoil, floored from the most passionate kiss of your life.
His words to you? “Let’s just be friends.”
Um, excuse you?? Have you felt a pull so strong to be with someone that it actually…terrified you?
For me, that person is Grant Taylor: Campus King. He's tall, handsome, and thoughtful. A pre-ordained baseball god headed for the majors and a big paycheck.
Our plan to be ‘just friends’ is going perfectly fine until one fateful summer night, when the King kisses me on a balcony like I’m his Juliet.
I never thought I could melt just from a man’s lips on mine.
I never knew a mysterious man like Grant would be the one I fall for.
The more we try to stay just friends, the more he haunts my dreams.
The more he haunts my dreams, the more I want to give into temptation.
One night…I finally do.
And it’s everything.
But a romance as hot as ours never comes without complications.
When I arrived to college, I thought I knew who I wanted to be.
I thought I knew what love was.
Turns out, I knew nothing before I met Grant Taylor.
I never knew you could fall in love with your best friend.
Life will never be the same again.
Because I should have known better than to kiss the King.
Next comes Love the One you Hate by R.S. Grey. You likely know I'm a fan of hers as well. This book was entertaining, enchanting, and charming.
Nicholas Hunt is the man I hate.
For good reason.
His opinion of me is tainted by prejudice even before my arrival at his grandmother’s estate, and my first impression of him is just as abysmal.
His arrogance and icy demeanor make it clear that he’s the type of man who’s best handled at a distance.
Fortunately, space shouldn’t be an issue inside this Gilded Age mansion and its lush gardens. If I stick with the servants and he keeps to his sailboat and vintage Porsche, we should hardly cross paths at all. Unfortunately, at Rosethorn, I find that all roads eventually lead to Nicholas Hunt.
Sparks fly as we spar at the dinner table. Fighting words are flung in the shadows of the palatial halls.
We hang suspended in our hatred of one another, painfully oblivious to the heat and tension that build with every moment we’re left alone. We’re liable to kill one another, I think…right up until my eyes land on his lips and a new feeling grips hold of me: lust.
He knows it.
They say you should keep your enemies close, but when Nicholas tightens his grip on my waist and draws me near, I’m not sure if it’s out of loathing or love.
One thing’s for sure—I intend to find out.
Last but not least is Mountain Man by Jenika Snow. My hunt continues for a true blue mountain man romance. This one is a short HOT story!
I was known in town as old money but lived off the land, a present-day caveman. They called me the town recluse, dubbed me a mountain man, antisocial. It was true.
But then she came into my life and turned everything I knew upside down.
It started with Bailey getting lost in the woods and finding herself on my doorstep.
She was sweet and innocent, half my age, and I had no control when the arousal built between us that night.
It ended with me taking her virginity in a passion-filled night.
But then she was gone, and I should have gone after her, thrown her over my shoulder, and demanded she was mine.
Four years later and our paths cross again. I thought I was stronger, able to control myself, but where Bailey was concerned, there was no doubt she called the shots. She owned my heart.
She’d gotten under my skin in the best of ways, and I knew this time around, I wouldn’t let her get away.
That's all I have for the week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
